2026 NFL Trade Deadline

Three Teams That Should be Sellers at the 2026 NFL Trade deadline

With the NFL trade deadline approaching, teams will have to make big decisions about their rosters for the rest of the season and beyond. Teams stuck in the middle, as well as top contenders in the league, are all positioning themselves to bolster their rosters for a playoff run. Here are three teams that will likely get plenty of calls and should be sellers at the 2026 NFL trade deadline.

Three NFL Teams That Should Be Sellers at the 2026 NFL Trade Deadline

Philadelphia Eagles (2-5)

The Eagles should look to pivot and should start taking calls on some respected veterans on their team. Yes, Philly is theoretically in the hunt for the NFC East crown, but with each passing week, the Eagles continue to look like a team struggling to hold on. Jalen Hurts is out for the season with blood clots, and the Eagles have already traded away veterans such as Cam Jurgens, while future Hall of Famers like Lane Johnson have retired midseason.

The Eagles could try to see where they can go behind Tanner McKee this season, who is stepping in for Hurts, but after falling to 2-5, it might be too much ground for them to make up in the NFC playoff race.

Players like Saquon Barkley, Tariq Woolen, Zack Baun and Hollywood Brown are notable veterans the Eagles could be taking calls on. Barkley is clearly the best of the group, and if made publicly available, several teams would inquire about his services despite battling hamstring injuries for the majority of the season so far.

Los Angeles Chargers (0-6)

If the 2027 NFL Draft were today, the Chargers would have the top pick in the draft. LA is one of, if not the biggest, disappointments of the 2026 NFL season so far, and even if the Chargers were able to reel off a couple wins, it likely won’t be enough to salvage the season.

Star quarterback Justin Herbert will likely be off-limits, as will the tackle duo of Joe Alt and Rashawn Slater; however, teams will be calling for the rest of the playmakers scattered throughout the Chargers’ offense and defense. Players such as Khalil Mack, Derwin James, Donte Jackson, and Quentin Johnston could all be players contending teams inquire about.

Mack would be a solid veteran to trade for, with many contenders looking for defensive help, including the Chicago Bears and the Buffalo Bills. Mack and the Bears are already familiar with each other after spending four years together.

Johnston hasn’t quite lived up to his potential at receiver as a first-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, and someone could take a chance on his talent. James is one of the best safeties in the league, and the Chargers will likely not listen to offers for him; however, if a contender feels James could take them over the top, he could be traded.

New York Jets (2-5)

The Jets are 2-5 after taking a loss to a winless Miami Dolphins team last Sunday. The Jets have been heavy sellers over the year, trading away the likes of Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams with both players returning multiple first-round draft picks. The Jets have three first-round picks in the 2027 NFL Draft and could have more if they become sellers again at the 2026 trade deadline.

Multiple NFL contending teams are looking for receiving help. With that said, could Garrett Wilson be available for the right price? He is one of the better young receivers in the league and is only 26 years old. Wilson would certainly demand a high offer that would bring in at least another first-round pick for the Jets. He has been a good soldier since the Jets drafted him in the first round in 2023; he has continued to show up and show out despite the Jets never finding a consistent answer at quarterback since his draft.

Wilson would likely be the top traded candidate in the NFL this trading deadline if made available. The Jets could also listen to teams who may call in and check on Breece Hall. Either way, at 2-5, the Jets should be open to selling, with their eye on controlling the 2027 or 2028 NFL Drafts.
