Week 2 of the BIG3 saw an uptick in stellar individual performances as we saw a trio of 20-point games. There were some scores that were close and some not so much, but regardless, it was another fun week around the league, capitalizing on the opening week chaos. In total, there were eight players who scored 16 or more points, making it a high-scoring Week 2 in the BIG3. Let’s take a look at some of the top performances from around the league.
Week 2 Top Performances in the BIG3
Michael Beasley (Miami 305)
Week 2 stats: 22 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist
Fresh off an ejection last week, Michael Beasley comes back and shows everyone he’s not to be messed with on the court. He put up the most points of anyone in the league this week with 22 and grabbed seven boards. The Miami 305 were down at half but went on a big second-half run to secure the 51-44 win, becoming the first halftime comeback in the BIG3 this season.Â
Beasley is playing through a shoulder injury suffered last week, but it didn’t seem to affect his overall game at the end of the day. He also hit the game-winning three, something we’ve seen him do multiple times over in the league. Because of his scuffle with Dwight Howard in Week 1, Beasley will be forced to serve a game suspension next week in the 2025 BIG3 Championship rematch against the Chicago Triplets.
Jeremy Pargo (Boston Ball Hogs)
Week 2 stats: 20 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal
It was a dominating performance from start to finish for the Boston Ball Hogs, and they were led by Jeremy Pargo, finishing with a team-high 20 points. He came out on fire in the second half and separated from the Houston Rig Hands, who now have nine losses in a row dating back to last year, which ties the longest streak in BIG3 history.
Elijah Stewart (Dallas Power)
Week 2 stats: 20 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals
It was almost a given that Elijah Stewart would come out with a chip on his shoulder against his former team…or a tortilla on his shoulder, as he said. Stewart held no words back when given his thoughts about the LA Riots’ handling of him, and he backed it up on the court. Stewart got the Dallas Power off to a hot start to the game and never looked back, scoring 20 points while hitting four three pointers.Â
The Power’s dominant 51-33 win is the largest margin of victory so far this season. Stewart has been one of the best players in the league through two weeks, giving a 17-point performance in Week 1 as well. He’s a big factor as to why his team is off to a 2-0 start and already looks like a legit BIG3 Championship contender.
Garlon Green (Boston Ball Hogs)
Week 2 stats: 18 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block
In addition to Pargo’s 20 points for Boston, Garlon Green put up 18 points in one of the best performances from a duo this season to secure the victory. He was on from behind the arc as well, hitting four threes in the game. This comes after scoring 16 points and grabbing eight rebounds last week.
Although they came out on the losing side in Week 1, Pargo and Green put up a real fight against Power, showing that this duo could be one to monitor moving forward.
Corey Brewer (Detroit Amps)
Week 2 stats: 16 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal
The Detroit Amps might be 0-2 to start the season but Corey Brewer is still putting up a fight. He tallied 16 points this week to follow up his 16 points last week. He was also one rebound shy of back-to-back double-doubles to start the season.
Losing Iso Joe Johnson for the season really put the Amps in a bind, and while this team is still talented, no Johnson makes a huge difference. With the way Brewer has started the season, the duo of him and Johnson would’ve certainly lit up the BIG3 and put Detroit in a better position.
Earl Clark (DMV Trilogy)
Week 2 stats: 16 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal
Earl Clark followed up last week’s 18-point, 11-rebound double-double with a near double-double in Week 2. He ended with 16 points and eight rebounds, almost helping the DMV Trilogy complete a 15-point comeback against the Triplets, but fell short 51-49. Clark also hit the only three-pointer in the game for Trilogy.
His teammate, James Johnson, almost matched Clark’s performance step for step, adding in 16 points of his own with six rebounds, three assists, and a steal, both hitting seven field goals. The Trilogy fell short but never gave up, pointing to the leadership of Clark and company.
Greg Monroe (Dallas Power)
Week 2 stats: 16 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals
Another reason why the Power looks like the best team so far this season is because of the inside presence of Greg Monroe. It doesn’t look like he’s lost a step at all, and his 16-point performance reflects that, including having the game-winning bucket against the Riot. Aside from the revenge game of Stewart, this contest was deemed the Howard vs Monroe game coming in. Safe to say Monroe had by far the better game and looked like the best player on the court alongside Stewart, as Howard only mustered two points.Â
Monroe looks like the best big man in the BIG3 so far this season and continues to show us why over the last two weeks.
