It was a bizarre week in the BIG3 as travel issues had a big impact on a lot of games, even canceling a matchup between the Aliens and 3’s Company. Despite all of that, the players and teams were able to put up a great week of performances and games given the circumstances. We’re down to one undefeated team in the league, the Enemies, who also clinched a playoff spot with their win. On the other hand, two teams had their season ended. Power ends the season going 1-5 while the Killer 3’s go winless at 0-6. There are only four more weeks left in the campaign so it’s time to zero in on the playoff race.
BIG3 Basketball: Top Week 6 Performances
Isaiah Briscoe (Trilogy)
Week 6 stats: 29 points, 5 rebounds, 1 block
Isaiah Briscoe has had some of the best performances in the league this year, including setting the BIG3 record for the most points scored in a game with 37. In week six, he put together another great performance by scoring 29 points, his second-most this season. With Trilogy’s season hanging in the balance, Briscoe knew he had to step up and deliver to keep them alive as the team survives another week, giving us another chance to see him shine in another win or go home next week.
Glen Rice Jr. (Power)
Week 6 stats: 28 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 block
Power was eliminated from playoff contention in week six after a three-point loss to Trilogy. While the team might’ve been down all season, Glen Rice Jr. has been their most consistent player. Power didn’t win but he sure tried everything to ensure their season lasted at least another week. He put up a season-high 28 points with six rebounds and four rebounds to go along with a block. Rice Jr. has shown from the start why he was the first overall pick in the 2022 BIG3 Draft and one of the best scorers in the league.
Chris Johnson (Ghost Ballers)
Week 6 stats: 28 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists
The Ghost Ballers got a huge victory to move to 3-3 and that was thanks to the great performance of Chris Johnson. He followed up his 16-point double-double in week five with 28 points and seven rebounds this past week. He scored 18 points at the half and had to out-duel Corey Brewer the rest of the way. Johnson was scoring in a variety of ways, continuing to be one of the leaders in field goals made on the season.
Corey Brewer (Bivouac)
Week 6 stats: 24 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assists
The MVP race has heated up and Corey Brewer seems to be the front-runner due to his all-around play week and week out. He tied his season-high with 24 points while also grabbing ten boards. Not only did Brewer put up his second double-double of the season, he did it with a depleted team around him. Gerald Green and Jaylen Johnson were missing so Brewer had to step up his game. Unfortunately for him, his great performance wasn’t enough to get the win, marking Bivouac’s first loss of the season. As long as he continues his MVP-caliber season, Bivouac is a legit championship contender.
Jeremy Pargo (Triplets)
Week 6 stats: 24 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists
With the team’s top players in and out of the lineup just about every week like Joe Johnson again this week, Jeremy Pargo had to put together another great game and he did. He made history this past Saturday as he hit yet another four-pointer, tying the league record with his sixth of the season. He was lethal from deep as he also hit four three-pointers as well. He totaled 24 points with six rebounds and three assists. In their loss, the Triplets fell to 3-3 but Pargo is doing what he can to keep this team in the hunt.
Kevin Murphy (Tri-State)
Week 6 stats: 21 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals
Despite a slow start, Kevin Murphy never quit or gave up. He powered his way to a near-double-double with 21 points and eight rebounds. Murphy also chipped in on defense with three steals. As much as we talk about Pargo hitting four-pointers, Murphy is not too far behind him as he hit another one this past week, giving him five on the season. Murphy has one of the best motors and compete levels in the league and that’s a huge reason why Tri-State is at 4-2. He is also another one squarely in the MVP conversation.
Other Notable Performances:
Amir Johnson (Tri-State): 17 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block
Franklin Session (Killer 3’s): 15 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block
