We’ve hit the mid-way point of season seven in the BIG3 and this past Sunday might’ve been the best week overall to this point of 2024. In week five, three players scored 29 points or more and seven four-pointers were made. We still have the same two teams undefeated (Enemies and Bivouac), but now only one team remains without a win, the Killer 3’s. On top of all that, each game was decided by 10 points or fewer. This was one of the more fun weeks of the BIG3 season and with the playoff push officially underway, it’s about to get even better.
BIG3 Basketball: Top Week 5 Performances
Michael Beasley (3’s Company)
Week 5 stats: 31 points, 10 rebounds
Last week, Michael Beasley put up a season-low 12 points. This past week, he put up a season-high 31 points in an outstanding performance that also saw him gather 10 rebounds for a double-double. Beasley was unarguable and hit the tough shots, even knocking down a four-pointer. 3’s Company is in a great spot heading down the stretch of the season at 4-1 and Beasley has played a huge part as to why that is.
Brandon Moss (3 Headed Monsters)
Week 5 stats: 29 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal
Brandon Moss has quietly put together some good performances over the course of the season but nothing close to this. In week five, he posted a double-double with 29 points and 11 rebounds. His efforts weren’t enough to put the 3 Headed Monsters over .500 and the rest of the team only combined for seven points in the loss. Despite that, Moss showing he is capable of doing this can keep the 3 headed monsters fighting the rest of the way for a playoff spot.
Kevin Murphy (Tri-state)
Week 5 stats: 29 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal
Since the season opener, Kevin Murphy has been on a heater. He put up 18 points in week two, 19 points in week three, and then put up a 25-point, 10-rebound double-double in week four. On Sunday, he put up a season-high in points with 29. Murphy put up 16 points from the four-point circle alone, hitting four of them which tied a record for most four-pointers made in a game. This surge each and every week has put him in the MVP conversation and Tri-state well into the playoffs race.
Franklin Session (Killer 3’s)
Week 5 stats: 23 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 blocks
After their 50-41 loss to the Enemies in week five, the Killer 3’s remain without a win in 2024. They fought hard until the end and Franklin Session had a big hand in that. He had a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Session did everything he could on the defensive end as well by having three blocks. The Killer 3’s haven’t had a great season but Frank Nitty had one of the best performances of the week and tried his best to ensure the teams’ first win, even if it failed.
Elijah Stewart (Enemies)
Week 5 stats: 22 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists
The Enemies are undefeated at 5-0 to start the season and games like this from Elijah Stewart are a reason why. He countered Session’s 23 points for the opposition with 22 points of his own. The chemistry he and the team have between each other is next to none and that is why the Enemies have a great chance to repeat, as long as Stewart keeps doing what he’s doing.
Jeremy Pargo (Triplets)
Week 5 stats: 21 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists
Jeremy Pargo continues to shine with players in and out of the lineup over the last few weeks. In week 3 without Joe Johnson, Pargo put up 20 points. This past Sunday without his brother Jannero Pargo, he nearly put up a double-double with 21 points and eight rebounds. And as a staple for Jeremy, he added yet another four-pointer on the stat sheet to give him five on the season. Pargo is top five in points scored and tied for first in assists. While Iso Joe is THE name on the Triplets, Jeremy has been their best player in 2024.
