2021 NFL Free Agency

2021 NFL Free Agency: Top Five Wide Receivers

2021 NFL free agency is set to kick off on March 17th at 4 p.m. EST and it is set up to be one of the most interesting in recent memory. Big names are set to hit the market this offseason and one of the most notable groups headed into the 2021 NFL free agency period is the wide receivers. There are arguably at least six number-one options that can be taken off the board this year. Many teams have their eyes set on a top wide receiver and there sure is plenty to make your team better in 2021.

2021 NFL Free Agency: Top Five Wide Receivers

Allen Robinson

Allen Robinson finally has a chance to get free from that quarterback situation in Chicago. He hasn’t played with a top quarterback in his career and that’s just wrong. Even with that situation, he’s managed to make himself one of the top wide receivers in the NFL.

In seven seasons, Robinson’s had three 1,000 yard seasons, including two back-to-back in 2019 and 2020. One of his greatest features is his hands as he rarely drops a ball thrown his way and he is excellent with his contested catches. The franchise tag is certainly an option for the Bears but cap space will be an issue for teams this season. It’s time for a team with a stable quarterback to finally scoop him up.

Chris Godwin

Fresh off of a Super Bowl win, Chris Godwin is set to hit the free-agent market with huge interest from many teams. Like Robinson, Godwin has great hands as he’s only dropped just four passes in his first three seasons. His route-running and ability to catch deep balls are what makes him an elite option in 2021. If he was healthy all season, he would’ve eclipsed 1,000 yards.

Reports are out there that say Godwin would be open to a franchise tag to stay with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and I don’t blame him. Tampa may have another great shot to make another run but if he leaves, he will earn top dollar and make other teams explosive on offense.

Kenny Golladay

The franchise tag yet again presents itself when talking about Kenny Golladay. This is a guy who has the athletic ability and size to bully people in all facets of the game whether it’s going up to get a ball or just plain beating people deep and on his routes.

In his four seasons with the Detroit Lions, Golladay has had two 1,000 yards seasons and his best came in 2019 when he had 1,190 yards with 11 touchdowns to go along with a pro-bowl selection. Five games were all he played last season due to injury but teams will overlook that and give him a big payday if he moves on.

Will Fuller

Will Fuller has never played a full season in the NFL. That being said, he’s still one of the top options at wide receiver in free agency. The speed possessed on this kid is what all teams look for. Fuller is one of the best deep threats in the league.

Last season for the Houston Texans, he only played 11 games before getting suspended for six games. It looked like he was having a career year and maybe even his first 1,000-yard season as he had 879 yards with eight touchdowns. He’s projected to get a healthy contract this season and hopefully, he can stay healthy long enough to help a team make a run.

Corey Davis

So many candidates could’ve taken this spot but after having a career year in 2020, it was hard not to pick Corey Davis. He is an above-average number two option for a team looking for one. Davis has his best year last season with the Tennessee Titans while having 984 yards with five touchdowns. He is a good downfield weapon that can be reliable when called upon.

His play isn’t the flashiest or his skills aren’t top tier like others but he will get the job done and do whatever you ask him. Davis is exactly what I would want as a number two and he is also due for a good pay raise when the 2021 NFL free agency period begins.
