With the first half of the season now in the books, we are inching closer and closer to who really are the contenders and pretenders. With many great games on the slate, there are still some best bets for NFL Week 10. Both conferences are starting to heat up as the race for the one seed is becoming very tight for each side. In the AFC there are two teams with eight wins in the Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs.
In the NFC, there are currently three teams tied at the top. Those teams include the New Orleans Saints, Seattle Seahawks, and Green Bay Packers, all coming in at 6-2. Each of these teams outside of the Chiefs is in action this week as they look to boost their resume halfway through the season. Before we start to get in the thick of the playoff push, we still have some games to get to that point. And for that, I give you my three best bets for NFL week 10.
Three Best Bets For NFL Week 10
Buffalo Bills @ Arizona Cardinals
Pick: Over (56.5)
With my first pick, I am not choosing a spread for this game. Rather, I am focusing more on the over/under. Why you may ask? Well, I truly think this game could go either way. Both teams have extremely potent offenses that can score on you in a blink of an eye. The two quarterbacks, Josh Allen and Kyler Murray, currently stand as legit MVP candidates trying to lead their teams to the top of their respective divisions.
Starting with the visiting Buffalo Bills, they have lived up to their expectations and then some. Coming into the year, there were skeptics questioning whether or not the Bills could overtake the New England Patriots as the AFC East’s top dog. Halfway through the season, they are currently 7-2 and do in fact lead the division. This is due to the Pats not playing up to their usual self as they are currently 3-5. Since they are likely not going on some miracle run to save their season anytime soon, the Miami Dolphins are the only team that has a chance to overtake the Bills. Buffalo has already beaten Miami once with a second matchup still on the schedule. The Bills will try and continue to silence the critics and boost their division lead on Sunday in Arizona.
As for the Arizona Cardinals, acquiring star wideout DeAndre Hopkins has proven to be one of the best moves from the offseason. He and Kyler Murray have already built a great connection that will only grow each and every week. Statistically, Hopkins has been a top-five receiver this year and has been a key addition to this offense. Giving these two lethal weapons to head coach Kliff Kingsbury is almost unfair. This trio is ascending as one of the biggest offensive threats in all of the NFL.
The team is currently 5-3 and in second place in arguably the toughest division in the league. This offense can flat out score on you in a moment’s notice and can turn the game around in an instant. Looking towards the future, I see them making the playoffs and maybe even make a potential Super Bowl LV run. With no truly dominant team in the NFC, anything can happen.
This game is a real flip of the coin with how both offenses have been this season. For that reason, I am taking the over in my three best bets for NFL week 10.
Philadelphia Eagles @ New York Giants
Pick: Giants (+4)
Alas, here we have the Philadelphia Eagles traveling to Metlife Stadium to take on division rival New York Giants. It’s the game of the week (just kidding, not even close). However, this matchup could prove to be the deciding factor of who wins the NFC East. These four teams just can’t seem to choose whether they want to tank for a great draft pick or if they should be going all-in in an attempt to win the division. The Eagles are currently the leader sitting at 3-4-1 but the Giants are not too far behind. They sit at 2-7 and still in the mix to take home the division. This will be the second matchup between the two as the Eagles took the first one in Week 7 by a score of 22-21.
Another Miracle in the Meadowlands?
Back to Philly, they really haven’t been a threat whatsoever to make a run in the playoffs, if they even make it there. Yes, there have been a lot of injuries, but this team is still a dumpster fire. The offensive line can’t block to save their lives. And even when they give Carson Wentz a reasonable amount of time in the pocket, he still finds a way to either get sacked or throw a pick.
This season just hasn’t been what the Philly faithful have wished for at all. In their three wins, two have come against divisional opponents, the Giants and Dallas Cowboys. The other came against a banged-up San Fransisco 49ers. In all three of their wins, they didn’t look all too impressive. In addition, all three teams are on the outside looking in for the playoff race in the NFC. If there was just one competent team in the East, there is little-to-no chance they would even sniff the top of the division.
Now, before I say this, I want to make one thing clear. In no way, shape, or form am I a fan of the New York Giants. But, I really can’t help myself from cheering for them to win the division. Out of the four teams, this squad has shown the most fight, at least in my eyes. I have liked their head coach Joe Judge ever since he was hired this offseason. Although they have just two wins, I like the culture he has brought to this club and truly believe they have found their coach of the future.
As for their quarterback Daniel Jones, maybe not so much. This kid will look like the second-coming of Joe Montana one play and then Blaine Gabbert the next. Unfortunately for him and the Giants, the Blaine Gabbert side is the one that comes out most. Nonetheless, New York is riding with Jones the rest of the year in hopes of capturing the NFC East crown.
With how this first matchup between the two went, and how the Eagles have been playing, I simply cannot give them my trust to lay the points. Instead, I am taking the Giants +4 in my three best bets for NFL week 10.
Denver Broncos @ Las Vegas Raiders
Pick: Over (50.5)
For my favorite bet around the league this week, it involves divisional rivals Denver Broncos and the Las Vegas Raiders. Yep, that’s right. I have two overs in my three best bets of NFL Week 10. This matchup has a lot of similarities to the Bills-Cardinals game. Both offenses can score at will, at least when they’re on. The defenses on either side are iffy, but they can make a stand if/when they need it. The difference that separates these teams is the quarterbacks. While the Bills and Cardinals both have MVP-hopefuls under center, the Broncos and Raiders have more of a game manager style of QB’s.
In Denver, they come into this matchup two games below .500 at 3-5 and third in the AFC West. This season has been a mediocre one at best for the Broncos as they still try to build back to their Super Bowl-winning self. Questions still surround quarterback Drew Lock in regards to how long he will remain the starter in Denver. After last season there were high hopes for him in Mile High. He has started six out of eight games this year. He has an even six touchdowns and six interceptions on the season. These are not the stats you would like to see in your potential franchise signal-caller.
Even with the mediocre season stat line, this offense can still put up points when they’re on. Going up against a shaky defense on Sunday, I am predicting Drew Lock will put one of his best performances of the season and will force Derek Carr and company to be on their A-game.
The entertainment capital of the world
The Las Vegas Raiders come into this matchup at 5-3 and one spot above the Broncos at 2nd place in the AFC West. The RaidersĀ are currently eleventh in the league in points per game with 27.2. Their ranking doesn’t sound the best, yes. However, there have been many teams who are putting up an insane amount of points per week and Vegas just isn’t up to their level. They still can score almost at will sometimes and look to keep it going Sunday.
They are coming off of a last-second stop that clinched the victory for them last week against the Los Angeles Chargers. It was indeed the defense that won the game for the Raiders. They stopped the Chargers within the 5-yard line with just one second left on the clock. The Raiders will look to carry that momentum into this matchup as they are looking for back-to-back wins against divisional opponents.
Both of these offenses score at high rates. I can’t help myself but to take the over (50.5) and run with it in my three best bets for NFL week 10.
