Carolina Panthers 2017

Five Bold Predictions for the Carolina Panthers 2017 Season

The Carolina Panthers football team is looking for revenge following a 6-10 season. How will they perform this year?

Predictions for the Carolina Panthers 2017

  1. Kelvin Benjamin will finish the season with 1200+ receiving yards and 15 touchdowns.

Kelvin Benjamin is looking to prove all the haters wrong this season after he was body shamed for his weight issues over the offseason. Benjamin received the most passes (8) and third most receiving yards (108) on the team during the preseason. He was one of the only three receivers to score a touchdown during the preseason.

Benjamin has regained his confidence, speed, and strength to do big numbers this year, and his teammates approve.

2. Cam Newton wins MVP

This statement, in fact, may be a little too bold, but don’t be surprised if Newton is in the running for MVP again this year. Newton is well rested and his coaches say his shoulder is ready to go. He has a lot of offensive weapons to choose from. Not to mention Cam Newton is practically a running back that can throw the ball well. He is a nightmare for defenses.

3. Christian McCaffrey wins Rookie of the Year

McCaffrey is everything you want in a running back. He is fast, great at catching the ball, and has the strength to find though each and every defensive line. I suspect he will be scoring a lot of touchdowns for the Carolina Panthers.

He finished the preseason game with 87 yards, one touchdown, and ran at an average of 5.12 yards per carry.

4. Shaq Thompson will end the season with more tackles than Thomas Davis

We all know and love Thomas Davis. He is a natural born leader and an intelligent football player. Not too often do you see running backs get by Luke Kuechly and Thomas Davis.

I believe that this is the year that Shaq Thompson dominates. He was somewhat inconsistent last season, but this year he will get plenty of playing time. Thompson has had some time to learn the best defensive techniques from two of the best linebackers in the game.

5. Johnathon Stewart plays in every game

The long time Panthers fans understand how hard it is for Stewart to plan in every game. Stewart has not played in all sixteen games since 2011. He is thirty years old and has a history of injuries.

The Panthers have had to rely a lot on Stewart in the past because of the inconsistency at both the backup and third-string running back positions. The stress on his body has caused him to sit out in tough games.

Now that the Panthers have Christian McCaffrey, Stewart will get more opportunities to rest and save his strength.

With those five bold predictions, my guess is the Panthers will finish the regular season 11-5. (+/- 2)
