NFL Week 2

NFL Week 2 Games to Watch

Now that week 1 of the NFL is in the books, it’s time to look ahead to NFL week 2 and the top matchups ahead. The start of the season came with many surprises across the league, ranging from blowouts to unexpected wins. Breakout performances flanked week 1 and it’s expected to carry over to NFL week 2 as teams aim to stake their claim as contenders early in the season.

NFL Week 2 Games to Watch

Chiefs vs Ravens

The game of the week will consist of two AFC rivals as Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs travel to take on Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens. This game consists of two MVP quarterbacks who have been atop the AFC for a few years. The Chiefs come into this one with a huge comeback win over the Cleveland Browns. After being down 22-10, this explosive offense showed us what they’re all about. Mahomes was making throw after throw to bring them back as he threw for 337 yards and three touchdowns while running for a score. 197 of those yards and one of those touchdowns went to Tyreek Hill while Travis Kelce caught two of the touchdowns.

The Ravens came into this game with multiple players out with season-ending injuries. Among them were running backs Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins. It was a big hit to the backfield of this team.

The season started with a tough overtime loss against the Raiders in NFL week 1. Baltimore lead the entire game until the fourth quarter. All eyes were on Lamar Jackson as he is must-see TV. Not only did he throw for 235 yards and a touchdown, but he led the game in rushing with 86 yards. Sammy Watkins showed out in his first game as a Raven as he caught four passes for 96 yards. The defense played well early on but let the Raiders back in it.

We know how electric the Chiefs offense is so the Ravens need to protect the ball and show out of defense. With the game being in Baltimore, the Ravens see a great opportunity to pounce in what will be a tough environment to play in but if any team will know how to handle it, it’s Kansas City.

Bills vs Dolphins

It’s only NFL week 2 but this feels like a big AFC East matchup already. The Buffalo Bills want to stake a claim in the division but the Miami Dolphins might have something to say about it. The Bills came into this game being one of the Super Bowl favorites but they didn’t look like it to begin the season. Josh Allen didn’t play like himself as he threw for 270 yards and only a touchdown. Running back Devin Singletary showed signs of getting back to himself but they didn’t have a rushing touchdown in the game. The offense also turned the ball over four times and gave the Steelers the game. The defense played well but it wasn’t enough.

While the Bills lost a close one, the Dolphins went to Foxborough and won by a point. Tua Tagovailoa was efficient and did enough to help win them the game as he threw for a touchdown and also ran for one. Rookie Jaylen Waddle caught the touchdown as it was the first of many in his career. The Dolphins defense forced three fumbles and made some huge plays when the New England Patriots looked prime to score. This game in NFL Week 2 will be a huge test for Miami and Buffalo on both sides of the ball. There’s reason to believe these two teams will play overall better games when they face each other.

Rams vs Colts

Everyone expects the Indianapolis Colts to be right in the thick of the discussion for not only a playoff berth, but the AFC South crown. After finding their quarterback in Carson Wentz and having a very good backfield, led by Jonathan Taylor, this Colts team looked to be one of the most well-rounded in the league. They took a step back Sunday after losing by 12 to the Seahawks in week 1. While it’s only the first game of many, being victorious against another serious playoff contender to start the season would’ve been great.

A bounce-back would be nice for the Colts but it won’t be an easy task against the Los Angeles Rams. Sunday Night Football showcased Matthew Stafford‘s first game with his new team. He looked quite impressive as he threw for 321 yards and three touchdowns against a well-rounded Bears defense.

The Rams receiving core showed they can be one of the best in the league, led by Cooper Kupp‘s 108 receiving yards and six points on the board. The defense looked stout as well, aside from letting David Montgomery run for over 100 yards and a touchdown. This should be one of the best games of the week with the Colts having something to prove and the Rams carrying the momentum of their offense.

Titans vs Seahawks

These two teams went in opposite directions last Sunday. The Seattle Seahawks secured a 12-point victory against the Colts while the Tennessee Titans suffered a blowout loss against the Cardinals. After a lot of hype surrounding this Titans offense with adding Julio Jones to an already talented group, things didn’t go according to plan. They only scored 13 points as Ryan Tannehill only threw for just a little over 200 yards. Derrick Henry only ran for 58 yards and Julio only had 29 yards receiving. This was not going to get it done at all and it didn’t help that the defense was horrendous.

While the Titans put together a lackluster performance, the Seahawks went on the road and took control from the beginning. Russell Wilson looked like he yet again will be in the MVP conversation for the majority of the year. He was 18-23 for 254 yards and four touchdowns. He connected with long-time favorite Tyler Lockett, as he caught four passes for 100 yards and two touchdowns. Wilson also found D.K. Metcalf for 60 yards and a touchdown. The offense has been explosive for a while now but they’ve been waiting for the defense to get on the same page and week 1 was a great sign.

The Titans are poised to perform better in NFL week 2 but unfortunately, they have to travel to Seattle, the home of the 12th man. If the Seahawks can get the defensive performance that they displayed last week, the Titans would likely take a 0-2 record into week three.
