1. Young studs
Although the Bruins were eliminated in the first round, they showed their potential, giving hope to their fanbase. Because of the amount of injuries in the playoffs, a lot of inexperienced, young players needed to step up. Players like Acciari, Kuraly, Vatrano, Carlo, Miller, and Morrow gained much valued experience while showing what they could do. With the average age of the Bruins being just 26, there is nowhere to go but up. This will only help the team in the near future.
2. PASTAAAA
David “Pasta” Pastrnak, the 20-year-old stud from the Czech Republic, has had a wonderful season. In 75 games, he netted 34 goals, 36 assists, and 70 points. He has continued to show the potential to be a star in the league, and at only 20 years old, he has plenty of time. Pastrnak is making hockey fun again in Boston.
3. Key veterans
With all of the young players on the Bruins roster, there are still have plenty of veterans. The core of Marchand, Bergeron, Krejci, Rask, and Chara could carry the Bruins to the post season on their own. With all of their experience, they know what it takes to be a winning team, having won the Stanley Cup in 2011.
4. Bruce Cassidy
Bruce Cassidy took over as the interim head coach once the Bruins let go of long-time coach Claude Julien. Julien was hired as the head coach of the Bruins in 2007, and led them to their 2011 Cup win. Some saw it as a shock when he was released. Bruce Cassidy stepped in and was put at the helm of a struggling Boston team. Soon after he was hired, Boston started winning again, and made the playoffs as the 6th seed. Cassidy seems to have the team playing to their potential for the first time in a long while, so 2017-18 might prove even more successful.
5. A scrappy attitude
The Bruins are often overlooked. After watching the series with Ottawa, the team has shown they play with a scrappy, never-give-up approach. Most of the games against the Senators went to overtime, and with many injuries, some players were overplayed. Despite this, they played the Sens very hard, showing their resiliency.
