Another regular season has come and gone in the BIG3, but the fun is just getting started with the playoffs beginning next week. Postseason spots came down to the wire, with six of eight teams still vying for the playoffs on the last day of the season. The intensity picked up around the league in week 9 with almost every single play on the court. The semifinal matchups are set for next Sunday, but the games and performances in week 9 set the table for what’s going to be a great next two weeks in the BIG3.
BIG3 Basketball Week 9 Top Performances
Â
Michael Beasley (Miami 305)
Week 9 stats: 30 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 stealsÂ
It’s fitting that Michael Beasley puts up 30 points to end the regular season for the Miami 305. He ties the BIG3 season-high of 30 set by himself in week 5 and Joe Johnson in week 1. Beasley’s performance in the regular season finale might’ve been the best all-around of the bunch. He filled the stat sheet with his seven rebounds and four assists to go along with an impressive four steals, helping his team clinch a playoff spot. This game cemented what could be back-to-back MVP campaigns for one of the best players in the history of the BIG3.
Cameron Smith (Detroit Amps)
Week 9 stats: 24 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assists
The Detroit Amps came into this game needing a win. Unfortunately for them, that didn’t happen, but Cameron Smith tried everything in his power to make it happen. He scored 24 points and at one point made a run of his own at the end of the game, but it was too late. Smith also shot well from outside, hitting four three-pointers for the Amps. The Amps couldn’t overcome the injury to Iso Joe early in the season and were missing Shakur Juiston for this game, but Smith made sure to show up for this one.
Greg Monroe (Dallas Power)
Week 9 stats: 20 points, 14 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal
Another monster double-digit rebound game from Greg Monroe seals the win for the Dallas Power. He was out for week eight and came back in week 9 like he was never gone. In week six, he put up 18 points with 15 rebounds. That was just the beginning of this great three-game stretch as he put up his best game of the season in week seven, tallying 25 points and 18 rebounds. Now Monroe comes back in week 9 to lead his team to the BIG3 Playoffs with his 20 points and 14 rebounds. He completes a very impressive feat as he finishes the season averaging a double-double.
Dwight Howard (LA Riot)
Week 9 stats: 18 points, 15 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block
Dwight Howard put together back-to-back double-doubles in what was another tremendous performance. He followed up his 18-point, 17-rebound game last week with his 18-point, 15-rebound game this week. Howard has played a great stretch of basketball and was able, with Jordan Crawford, to lead the LA Riot to a playoff berth in one of the most epic comeback wins in BIG3 history this week. With his season, he will be up for BIG3 Rookie of the Year in 2025.
