Spring is in full bloom and it’s the Masters, the first major tournament of the PGA tour. The coveted green jacket at the end of the fourth day of play at the Masters is simply one of the perks of winning. Getting a major win raises your credit rating with the PGA as it were. Getting you auto qualified for many other tournaments. Let’s take a look at what to watch for this weekend.
The 2019 PGA Masters Preview
The Course for The Masters
The Augusta National Golf Club, located in Augusta, Georgia is not only one of the most famous courses, but it is also one of the most challenging and pristine courses in the country. Hand tailored and kept, the attention to detail is at a level that is matched by very few places.
With a total yardage of 7435, depending on weather and how the course plays, it can be a huge challenge simply to make the par of 72. Now add in the factor that the weather is not going to be as pristine as the course. In fact, there are possibilities of rain and even thunderstorms for most of the weekend. This will cause the grounds crew to not only do all they can to keep on top of it but change how the course plays. Only the most talented of golfers can adjust daily to keep their scores at a winning level.
A Week Long Enjoyment
Not only is the actual play of the Masters entertaining, but the days preceding it as well. Fans line the course, watching their favorites play as well as some of the luckier fans who have chances to interact with the golfers. Most of the golfers in the league are very fan appreciative and love to have interactions with their fans. From autographs to a smile and a small chat, to a select few actually being allowed on the course. The players are keeping adult fans entertained as well as luring new young fans with an interest and love for the game.
Who Will Wear the Green Jacket?
Last week in an amazing week of accomplishment, Corey Conners not only won the Valero Texas Open, after qualifying on Monday. It put him in as the last man at the Masters. Can he ride this wave to an unprecedented win at The Masters?
Then, of course, there are the favorites who have been doing well this and last year such as the likes of Dustin Johnson or Justin Rose or even Rory Mcllroy. Or, could older favorites such as Phil Mickelson or even Sergio Garcia who had a rough start to his season, win themselves another jacket.
Of course, then there is the big gun, the one many have been waiting for. Can this be the major that Tiger Woods finally wins his next major after a long drought? His amazing comeback last year and the confidence he is showing can add up to a rousing victory this week.
Golf is a wonderful, hard, beautiful, evil and frustrating game. That being said, these guys are the best in the world and can make some amazing shots and make it look easy. Combine their talent with the challenges they will face this weekend. There is sure to be many great highlights of the weekend. And to be sure, whoever wins the green jacket, will have earned it. Fore!
