World Series Odds: The Five Best Bets

The start of Spring Training begins today so that means the MLB regular season is almost upon us. A lot of interesting moves were made this off-season. It was way more active this year than last. There are new faces on a lot of teams and many can’t wait to see what’s in store for their team this year. The MLB regular season starts March 26th and a lot of teams have only one thing in mind, winning a World Series championship. As the season gets closer, here’s a look at the five best odds to win the World Series.

World Series Odds: The Five Best Bets

Yankees (+300)

The New York Yankees made one of the biggest moves of the off-season in signing Starter Gerrit Cole. The Yankees have always had a powerful lineup but what has held them back in years past is pitching. With the signing of Cole, the Yankees rotation just got way better. Former Yankees ace Luis Severino might be dealing with some tightness in his arm so we’ll see what will happen moving forward. James Paxton is out 3-4 months which isn’t good but again, they have Cole. After everything plays out, the rotation should be healthy heading into the playoffs and no one wants to see the Yankees high powered offense and rotation. This finally could be the year.

Dodgers (+350)

If you thought the Los Angeles Dodgers were dangerous these past couple of years, wait until this season. After falling short in the World Series two years in a row, they felt like they needed to make another move to put them over the top and that’s exactly what they did. They acquired outfielder Mookie Betts from the Boston Red Sox. Betts is considered one of the best players in baseball and has a great all-around game.

They lost a couple of pitching pieces in starters Hyun-Jin-Ryu and Kenta Maeda in addition to Rich Hill. The Dodgers added David Price who has fallen off a little but many feel like he can rebound in an atmosphere like LA. They have a great top end of the rotation in Clayton Kershaw and Walker Buehler. The offense is explosive and they hit a lot of bombs. Add Betts with Cody Bellinger and you have a very dangerous lineup.

Astros (+800)

There’s going to be a lot of thoughts on the Houston Astros this season and rightfully so. The Astros still have some very good players and a solid rotation with Justin Verlander and Zack Greinke. Jose Altuve and company are out to prove that they can succeed without help. They lost one of the best pitchers in baseball with Cole and a couple of other pieces but they have some players that can fill in. Even with the scandal, they still have the third-best odds and that tells you a lot.

Braves (+1400)

After the top three teams, it kind of falls of a cliff until you find the next team in many’s opinion. The Atlanta Braves are out to prove that they can hang with the top dogs. Year after year they’ve fallen well short despite having a good team. This off-season, they made moves to make sure that they are contenders. They lost Dallas Keuchel in that rotation but added Cole Hamels. They added rotation help this season with the addition of all-star closer Will Smith. That is a huge area the Braves needed to address and they did. The team lost Josh Donaldson which is huge on both sides of the field but they added Marcell Ozuna who has a lot of power. The Braves can be a very sneaky team to watch out for to win the World Series.

Nationals (+1600)

There’s no surprise the defending World Series Champions are in the top five for the best odds to win it all. The Washington Nationals lost MVP candidate Anthony Rendon, which leaves a question at third base. They are giving 21-year old Carter Kieboom a chance to win the job at third as well as Asdrubal Cabrera. Other than that, they are set. They have young talent all around including rising star Juan Soto. For the second year in a row, they have the three-headed monster of Max Scherzer, Stephen Strasburg, and Patrick Corbin, who were dominant in the post-season. The NL East will be tough this season so it’ll be interesting to see who ends up where.

Teams With Next Best Odds

Minnesota Twins (+1800)
New York Mets (+1800)
St. Louis Cardinals (+2000)
Chicago Cubs (+2500)
Philadelphia Phillies (+2500)
Tampa Bay Rays (+2500)
