Week Seven NFL DFS: Under the Radar Plays

I’ll have to dig deep for week seven NFL DFS under the radar plays. I pick plays at each position to differentiate from the field and provide salary relief so you can pay up for the studs. There are eleven games on the main slate, and only two have implied totals over 50 points. The Los Angeles Rams at Atlanta Falcons and the Baltimore Ravens at Seattle Seahawks. Those games should see high ownership. The rest of the slate has some teams in strong positions. Let’s pivot off the chalk and go under the radar.

Pricing and Players are taken from DraftKings’ main slate.

Week Seven NFL DFS: Under the Radar Plays

Quarterback: Jacoby Brissett $5,600

Brissett and the Indianapolis Colts are a one-point favorite to the visiting Houston Texans. Las Vegas has the implied total at a moderate 48 points. This game has shoot-out potential and in a tightly contested game, Brissett might have to sling it more than usual. Additionally, the Texans pass defense is in the bottom ten of the league against wide receivers and quarterbacks. The Colts will typically try to establish the run and the Texans are middle of the pack defensively against running backs. With that being said, T.Y. Hilton will be chalk in most line-ups but you can pair him with Brissett as a pivot from Watson and then run it back with the Texan wide receivers in a game stack.

Week Six pick: Andy Dalton, 14.6 fantasy points. Outcome: Bust!

Running Back: Joe Mixon $5,000

We want to believe that the Cincinnati Bengals can put up points. Mixon is a talented running back chosen in the second round of season-long fantasy leagues. We just haven’t seen the payoff. We know the potential is there for ceiling game that breaks the slate. The Bengals are at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars that aren’t great against the run. Furthermore, how do the Jaguars respond to just having traded their best player, Jalen Ramsey? This could be a prime spot for the Bengals to grind Mixon and have Dalton pepper him with targets. The Bengals are a home underdog getting three points on fairly low implied total of 44. The Bengals need to get Mixon going. It’s now or never for the Bengals as they battle the Miami Dolphins for the rights to the number one overall draft pick.

Week Six pick: Le’Veon Bell 12.3 fantasy points. Outcome: Bust!

Wide Receiver: Mohamed Sanu $4,600

The Rams and the Falcons are battling in the highest implied total on the main slate at 53 points. The marquee match-up in this game will be the battle between Jalen Ramsey and Julio Jones. That leaves Calvin Ridley and Sanu to get a larger share of targets. Matt Ryan has been passing at an extreme rate and there is nothing to suggest it stops. Devonta Freeman put up a big game last week and his touchdowns came via the pass. The Falcons are playing for pride and if they want to salvage their season they need to start by upsetting the Rams.

Week six pick: Dede Westbrook 8.3 fantasy points. Outcome: Bust!

Tight End: Darren Fells $3,100

The decision behind this pick is that the Colts are not great against the tight end position. They’ve given up the ninth most yards to the position and seventh-most touchdowns. They are bottom ten against the position but, top ten against the pass overall. Fells showed his skills last week against the Kansas City Chiefs in a high paced game and he could get more targets this week. I will admit this is a bit of a punt play with the higher-priced tight ends in very good spots. However, Watson has shown a willingness to go to his tight ends and Fells is third on the team in targets.

Week six pick: Gerald Everett 2.9 fantasy points. Outcome: Bust!

Defense: Colts $2,000

Looking to punt at defense? I like the Colts at home. Week five, prior to their bye, they held the juggernaut Chiefs offense to 13 points and got to Patrick Mahomes four times. If this game gets into a shoot out the Colts will have plenty of opportunities to get to Deshaun Watson. Additionally, the Colts will likely have Darius Leonard and Clayton Geathers back on the field as both have cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol. Both players provide a huge boost to the Colts defense.

Week six pick: New York Jets 1.0 fantasy points. Outcome: Bust!

Under the Radar

Saquon Barkley is expected back and Leonard Fournette is in a great spot. Fournette should be the chalk. And, how can we resist jamming Cooper Kupp, against the Falcons, into our line-ups? But, if you’re an MME (mass multi-entry) player you’ll want to get a sprinkle of the boom-bust plays that get you GPP glory. Le’Veon Bell and the Jets defense proved to be not so under the radar as they were found on a lot of cash line-ups. This week I have a feeling most cash line-ups punt the defense again in an effort to jam in the studs in great spots. The week seven NFL DFS under the radar plays run a lot of risks. Who is your under the radar play? It takes just one.

Good luck and good DFS!
