Top 5 NFL Games to be Excited About in the 2018-19 Season

With the NFL Draft one week away and tonight’s schedule release the NFL off-season is moving along extremely quickly. The weekly slate features plenty of exciting NFL games. The following five should prove to be some of the most entertaining. All five games feature exciting matchups and some are rematches of big games from last season.

5) Week 5: Minnesota Vikings at Philadelphia Eagles, Sunday October 7th 4:25 P.M.

This game is a rematch of last year’s NFC championship game. Although, the quarterback matchup will be much different this year with Kirk Cousins vs. Carson Wentz. The Vikings are going to have this game marked down on their calendars after getting blown out 38-7 in last year’s conference championship game. Kirk Cousins has massive expectations in Minneapolis after getting $84 million in guaranteed money. Cousins is certainly familiar with the Eagles defense after playing them twice a year for the previous four seasons in the NFC East. Although this game is only in week 5, both teams will bring that playoff competitiveness and atmosphere to the City of Brotherly Love on this Sunday in early October.

4) Week 9: Green Bay Packers at New England Patriots, Sunday November 4th 8:20 P.M.

Whenever Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers play against one another it is must watch television. Two of the best quarterbacks in the league showcasing their abilities, it doesn’t get much better. After a season ending injury last season, Rodgers is going to come back with avengence and light it up as usual. This game could end up being one of the highest scoring games of the season, so if you love an offensive show this is the perfect game for you. This could be the last time before Tom Brady retires that him and Rodgers face off in a head to head matchup. Besides Brady and Rodgers, both teams have extremely talented rosters around them setting up an outstanding game.

3) Week 2: New England Patriots at Jacksonville Jaguars, Sunday September 16th 4:25 P.M.

This is a rematch of last season’s AFC Championship Game. Both teams are expected to be contenders and make the playoffs again this season. This matchup puts the great ground and pound game of Jacksonville against the potent passing game of New England. Anytime Tom Brady faces off against the extremely talented Jacksonville defense it is a great matchup to watch. Jalen Ramsey and the Jaguars want to avenge last season’s postseason loss. They are also eager to show New England and the rest of the league that 2017 wasn’t just a fluke. Although it is only the second week of the season, watching both these teams go at it will seem like a playoff atmosphere.

2) Week 8: New Orleans Saints at Minnesota Vikings, Sunday October 28th 8:20 P.M.

A rematch of the Minnesota Miracle, what could be better? Marcus Williams will certainly be having nightmares about this matchup returning to the scene of the crime. Stefon Diggs will certainly be excited for this matchup, facing off against the same team whose Super Bowl hopes he crushed last season. Drew Brees and the whole Saints roster are still feeling the affects of last year’s loss. They would enjoy nothing more than to defeat the Vikings on the same field. Two extremely talented offenses and defenses going at it in one of the best atmospheres in the league, that’s what I call must watch television.

1) Week 15: Philadelphia Eagles at Los Angeles Rams, Sunday December 16th 8:20 P.M.

Carson Wentz will be returning to the same field where his season ended last season due to a Torn ACL. This game will be emotional for Wentz, but he will not let it get the best of him facing off against the dominant defensive line tandem of Ndamukong Suh and Aaron Donald. Jason Kelce will certainly have his hands full facing off against two of the premier interior defensive linemen in the league. Jared Goff still has plenty of offensive weapons around him, but the Eagles still have an extremely talented defense. Jared Goff vs Carson Wentz a rematch of the top two picks in the 2016 NFL Draft, that will probably have playoff implications in Week 15 of the season.
