When the Miami Heat is on form, they are unstoppable. With the legendary player Jimmy Butler on their side, they may be able to reach the crowning title this season. There are also rumours that they could acquire Kevin Durant, Donovan Mitchell, and/or Kyrie Irving, so they might just be able to make their way into the top spot this season. Their first preseason game takes place in October, so hopefully, we’ll get a glimpse of what’s to come!
2: Phoenix Suns
Phoenix Suns had a bit of a struggle last season, so it will be interesting to see if they can pick it back up in this one. Although they won a fair few games in their regular season, they did lose out to the Dallas Mavericks in the semi-finals. However, they’re also looking to scoop Durant and add him to their roster. With Durant and Devin Brooker on side, they may be able to become the favorite to win. They did just re-sign Deandre Ayton who has now extended his stay with the Suns. Keeping this star player on the team is just another reason why they may be able to go all the way to the top this season.
3: Milwaukee Bucks
In their last season, the Bucks struggled to remain consistent. However, they did manage to secure 51 wins until they ultimately were beaten by Boston Celtics in the semi-finals. This could be due to one of their best players, Khris Middleton being unable to play due to injury. The new season does bring renewed hope though as they’ve managed to keep Bobby Portis and Serge Ibaka, and sign Joe Ingles and Pat Connaughton. The odds of them winning the Championship are currently at +700, but with luck on their side, they may be able to get there and treat the fans who bet on them to decent winnings!
4: Boston Celtics

Last season, Boston Celtics won an impressive 35 out of 41 games, with coach Ime Udoka leading them through the toughest of games. They did end up just losing out on victory when they were beaten by the Golden State Warriors, but they should be able to reach the finals again this year and potentially win. However, they’ve just recently signed Malcolm Brogdon and this has greatly improved their odds of winning. Having this high-scoring guard playing alongside them could be enough for them to overcome any hurdle they face and take home the trophy this season.
5: Golden State Warriors
There’s no denying that the Golden State Warriors are an elite team. After winning last season, and 3 more prior, it’s clear that they’re a force to be reckoned with. Although they lost Otto Porter and Gary Payton during free agency, they did manage to sign with Donte DiVincenzo who is a top player. The defending champions may actually become the reigning champions once more if this season goes half as well as the last.
Although these are the top 5 NBA teams as we head into the new season, there could be a surprising turn of events that flips all of this on its head. An underdog team taking the crown does seem unlikely, but stranger things have happened. But with the success of these five in the last season, it seems like we could be in for a similar battle again. Let’s bring on the new NBA season!
