3. Shohei Ohtani’s Two-Way NLCS Masterclass
Ohtani delivered what his manager called the “greatest postseason performance of all-time” in Game 4 of the NLCS. In the pennant-clinching game, he threw six scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts while also hitting three home runs, including one that cleared the right-center-field pavilion at Dodger Stadium. This made him the first player in MLB history to record both a 10-strikeout game and a three-homer game in a single postseason contest.
2. Cal Raleigh’s Historic 60-Homer Season
The Seattle Mariners catcher Raleigh put together one of the greatest offensive seasons in MLB history, setting two single-season home run records. Raleigh clubbed an incredible 60 home runs, surpassing the previous single-season mark for a catcher (Salvador Perez) and a switch-hitter (Mickey Mantle). His power surge was the centerpiece of an excellent season for the Mariners, who reached the ALCS for the first time since 2001. Raleigh’s milestone blast on Sept. 24th was a defining regular-season highlight, showcasing his formidable power and cementing his place in baseball lore as the seventh player ever to reach the 60-home run mark.
