Ranking the Top 5 Moments in the 2025 MLB Season
5. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Postseason ‘Coming Out Party’
After helping the Toronto Blue Jays erase an eight-game deficit to win the AL East, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had a breakout postseason performance. In the ALDS, he went 9-for-17 (.529) with three home runs. He carried that momentum over into the ALCS where he would claim the ALCS MVP, setting the stage for Toronto’s run to their first World Series in over three decades. His performance demonstrated that he was ready for the high-pressure environment of October baseball.
4. The All-Star Game Decided by a “Swing-Off”
The 95th MLB All-Star Game introduced a unique “swing-off” tiebreaker after the game ended tied at 6-6. This new rule, part of the current collective bargaining agreement, was used for the first time. Each manager selected three players for a Home Run Derby-style contest. Kyle Schwarber of the Philadelphia Phillies won the tiebreaker for the National League, hitting three home runs in three swings and earning the All-Star Game MVP award.
