27-year-old former Manchester City striker, Stevan Jovetic, after spending last season on loan at Sevilla in Spain has been told he could leave Inter Milan this summer. He is no longer in their first-team plans.
The Montenegro international has attracted interest from many clubs across Europe. Monaco seems to be the freshest pursuer of the player.
Monaco are on the hunt for a replacement for Kylian Mbappe, who is close to joining Paris Saint-Germain on a season-long loan ahead of a permanent switch next summer. It is hoped that Jovetic could be one piece of replacing Mbappe’s production from last season.
Stevan Jovetic Available to Monaco After Snubbing Brighton and Newcastle
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Jovetic is available having reportedly turned down an approach from newly-promoted Premier League side Brighton. The Premier League side reportedly had a bid of around £15 million for the forward accepted by Inter earlier this week. But, after holding talks with the Seagulls, Jovetic has rejected their contract offer. It is also believed he has turned turn down an offer from Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle.
Jovetic left Man City for Inter on an initial loan deal during the 2015-16 season after failing to establish himself under Manuel Pellegrini. He made only 28 Premier League appearances in three years at the Etihad.
Last season, Jovetic scored six goals in 21 appearances in La Liga. He scored seven goals in 29 matches across all competitions for Sevilla.
