The 2024 NFL regular season now reaches its halfway point, with more on the line with each passing game. While some teams have a winning formula in place, others have shown little to be desired. Those who stand among the latter will need to assess the problems plaguing their respective franchises, whether it be management or coaching.
The AFC is starting to reveal clearly who’s hot and who’s not, the same as the NFC. Here are a few NFC teams who should consider a full-scale rebuild.
4 Teams in the NFC That Need to Rebuild
New York Giants
What can be said about the G-Men that hasn’t been said already? Head coach, Brian Daboll, is stuck with one of the sorriest offenses in the league, with Daniel Jones STILL under center. On the wave of a three-game skid, it is clear that big changes will need to occur, and not just coaching. The Giants front office will never live down the poorly-processed decision to keep Jones and let Saquon Barkley walk.
Perhaps it is time to hit the “Reset” button for the Big Blue, with owners John Mara and Steve Tisch selling the team to kick off the process.
New Orleans Saints
New Orleans started glowing hot in their first two games, scoring over 90 total points over that stint. But now they have yet to win a game since! Needless to say, head coach Dennis Allen, is not getting it done for the Big Easy. Offensive coordinator, Klint Kubiak, put himself on the map early. But nobody in the quarterback room of New Orleans has that “IT” factor to consistently produce, let alone turn heads. Plus, the Saints’ defense allows more yards per game than any other team in 2024.
A new chain of command is needed for the Big Easy, from the ownership all the way down to the coaching staff.
Carolina Panthers
New Orleans’ only consolation is that they’re not the Carolina Panthers. Where to begin with Carolina?! From sabotaging Bryce Young’s career to a defense allowing the most points per game in the league, Carolina is going nowhere fast. It is safe to say that Panthers owner, David Tepper, has taken over former Washington owner, Dan Synder’s old post as “the worst owner in the NFL.” Botching the construction of a team facility and throwing drinks at fans does not help his defense in any way.
Maybe, a team sale, and a possible relocation out of Charlotte, will do the brand some good.
Los Angeles Rams
Yes, the Los Angeles Rams made the playoffs last season. But now, L.A. is struggling to find that groove that won them a Super Bowl not so long ago. Although the entire NFC West is struggling to be considered a top contender, the Rams have problems of their own. The Rams will have to find a worthy successor to Matthew Stafford and help head coach, Sean McVay, bolster this young and inexperienced roster. Owner Stan Kroenke, who spearheaded the Rams’ relocation out of St. Louis, MO to Inglewood, CA, will have to play his cards to make his team one to be feared again.
