With free agency over and the draft wrapped up, here is a power ranking of the top ten NFL teams heading into the 2025 NFL season.
Top Ten Teams Post NFL Draft
10. Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers successfully solidified their offense through the draft and added contributors on the defensive end. They added speed after taking Matthew Golden with their first pick in the draft.
During free agency, they signed offensive guard Aaron Banks to a big deal to help sure up their offensive line. Jordan Love will enter the season in his third year under head coach Matt Lafluer’s system, so expect a strong year from Love. It wouldn’t shock people if the Packers took the NFC North crown in 2025.
9. Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos are looking to make a run for the AFC West crown, and each of their offseason moves has shown that. They signed Dre Greenlaw and Talanoa Hufanga in free agency to fortify their defense while also adding Jahdae Barron, Sai’vion Jones, and Que Robinson in the 2025 draft.
Sean Payton will be in year two with Bo Nix, and drafting running back R.J. Harvey in the second has solidified a commitment Payton wants to make to the run game that was lacking in 2024.
8. Los Angeles Chargers
The goal of the offseason, whether through free agency or the draft, was to add weapons and protection for Justin Herbert. They added Super Bowl Champion offensive lineman Mehki Becton to bolster the offensive line and signed running back Najee Harris, who has rushed for over 1,000 yards in each of his first four NFL seasons.
In the draft, they added the consensus second-ranked running back in Omarion Hampton while also adding another playmaker on the side in Tre Harris. The Chargers were a wild-card team in 2024 and are clearly looking to be much more than that in 2025 in their second season under Jim Harbaugh.
7. Detroit Lions
The Lions disappointingly finished their 2024 season; however, that can take away from how successful the team was in the regular season. The Lions had the number one overall seed in the playoffs and finished the regular season with a 15-2 record, which was second-best in the entire NFL.
Detroit has one of the best roster foundations in the league. They have stars on both sides of the ball in Amon-Ra St. Brown, Aidan Hutchinson, Jahmyr Gibbs, Sam LaPorta, and Kerby Joseph, to name a few. During free agency, the Lions added cornerback D.J Reed and in the draft, they added a stout defensive tackle in Tyleik Williams out of Ohio State University and continued to add pieces to their offensive line.
6. Washington Commanders
The Washington Commanders lit the NFL world on fire last season, winning 12 games and going all the way to the NFC Championship game. Jayden Daniels has quickly become a superstar in the NFL, and the Commanders made sure this offseason they would continue to build around him.
They traded for playmaker Deebo Samuel while also trading for an All-Pro offensive tackle in Laremy Tunsil. In the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, they took offensive tackle Josh Conerly to continue to build up the offensive line around Daniels. They also added to their defense by drafting defensive back Trey Amos and adding to the defense by signing players like Javon Kinlaw. The Commanders will be a trendy Super Bowl pick in 2025.
5. Los Angeles Rams
The LA Rams had one of the best off-seasons of any team in the NFL. They retained their quarterback, Matthew Stafford, after his future was in limbo with the team due to contract issues. After settling the Stafford situation, they added Davante Adams in free agency to pair with star receiver Puka Nacua.
The Rams have arguably one of the best young defensive lines in the league and added a force in Poona Ford to solidify it. They continued to add playmakers in the 2025 draft, selecting tight end Terrance Ferguson out of Oregon and fortifying their lack of linebacker depth by selecting Chris Paul Jr. The Rams will be a Super Bowl contender in 2025, and they’ve done everything they could have in free agency and the draft to make sure of it.
4. Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens signed offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley this offseason and added veteran playmaker DeAndre Hopkins to help the receiving corps. They followed that up by adding Malaki Starks in the first round of the 2025 Draft. The big-time playmaker from Georgia will pay immediate dividends for the Raven’s defense.
With Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry entering their second season together, the Ravens continue to be one of the best teams in the NFL.
3. Buffalo Bills
The Bills have continuously gotten their season ended by the Kansas City Chiefs and decided to do something about this offseason. They signed Joey Bosa and Larry Ogunjobi in the offseason. In the draft, they added defensive linemen Landon Jackson and T.J. Sanders. In the secondary, they added defensive back Maxwell Hairston, who ran a 4.28 at the NFL Combine.
Defensively, the Bills should be better than they were last season and can challenge for being the top defensive unit in the NFL in 2025.
2. Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs are the reigning AFC Champions, so they have to be among the top five teams heading into the 2025 season. In the Super Bowl, the Chief’s offensive line was destroyed by the Eagle’s defensive line, so the Chiefs have thrown plenty of resources at their offensive line issue.
The organization franchise tagged Trey Smith to keep the high-profile guard in town. They selected offensive tackle Josh Simmons in the first round of the 2025 draft and signed Jaylon Moore, a free-agent tackle from San Francisco, to make sure they have a plan ABCD at the offensive line.
1. Philadelphia Eagles
The reigning Super Bowl champions keep the top spot by default. They lost a lot of talent through free agency; however, the Eagles didn’t miss a beat in the 2025 NFL Draft. In the first round, they took Jihad Campbell out of Alabama, widely regarded as the best linebacker in the draft.
The Eagles returned most of their Super Bowl core and added depth through the draft, making them the best team heading into the 2025 season.
