Going into week two of NFL free agency, many of the top quarterbacks have been scooped up, but there are still plenty of solid options around — and with teams like the Giants, Steelers, Browns and more still looking to fill voids at that position, the sharks are circling in the water. In this article, I break down where the top remaining quarterbacks are expected to land and how they fit their new team. Quarterback Carousel Predictions
1. Aaron Rodgers – Pittsburgh Steelers
The legendary gunslinger is still available and by far the top option on the market. The end of the 2024 season showed he still has some gas left in the tank, even if he isn’t playing in MVP form. Giving Aaron Rodgers a quality offensive line and productive weapons could yield surprisingly positive results in 2025. That’s exactly what the Steelers have done recently, upgrading the offensive line in the 2024 NFL draft and acquiring star receiver D.K. Metcalf while making sure he’s there for the long haul. Only a quarterback with a strong personality can handle two brash personalities like Metcalf and George Pickens. Furthermore, those two need someone throwing them the ball that they respect; enter Rodgers.
2. Russell Wilson – New York Giants
Another big-name quarterback finally finds a home here as well. After years in Denver and Pittsburgh, Russell Wilson is far removed from being the elite play-extender we all remember. Still, he’s shown he has above average arm talent and can operate an offense well enough. With the Giants missing out on Rodgers, they move quickly to sign Wilson. There may not be hotter seats in the NFL than the ones head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen currently sit on, and here, they lock up the best option on the market. In this scenario, Wilson likely serves as the bridge quarterback for a developmental prospect until the young guy can step on the field.
3. Joe Flacco – Cleveland Browns
A reunion just makes too much sense. With Deshaun Watson out for at least a portion of the season, why not bring back the signal caller who led them to the playoffs in 2023? The veteran is familiar with head coach Kevin Stefanski’s system, plus a good portion of the offensive starters from 2023 remain on the team. Even at 40 years old, Flacco has shown a surprising ability to make plays and hang in the pocket when called upon. Here, the Browns get a steady locker room presence until Watson returns.
4. Jameis Winston – Minnesota Vikings
Coming off a 14-win season, the Minnesota Vikings were an incredibly competitive team — just not in the playoffs against the Los Angeles Rams. My point is that if J.J. McCarthy struggles as a starter, the locker room may not have the patience to let him progress through the growing pains. Now, the same could be said about head coach Kevin O’Connell not wanting a backup like Winston to threaten McCarthy, but I digress. O’Connell emphasized pushing the ball down the field in a major way, which Winston is known for. Winston is a massive wildcard, but if one of the brightest offensive minds in the league can harness his talent, the Vikings could have another Sam Darnold situation in 2025.
5. Drew Lock – Tennessee Titans
The Tennessee Titans quarterback depth chart is looking sketchy to say the least. Second-round disappointment Will Levis sits on top, with Brandon Allen behind him. While they do own the first pick overall in the 2025 draft, many expect the team to trade down and possibly pick up an elite defensive player. In this scenario, that’s exactly what they do after signing former Denver Broncos, Seattle Seahawks, and Giants quarterback Drew Lock to compete with current starter, Levis. While not regarded as starter material, Lock has shown the ability to step in and win important games, just like when he replaced Geno Smith in 2023, leading Seattle to a win over Philadelphia with late-game heroics.
