The super regional matchups have been set after one of the most exciting and shocking opening weekends in the history of the NCAA Baseball Tournament. In the regionals, we saw top national seeds go down, including number one and number two, and a No. 4 seed advancing to the supers.
There are still three mid-major teams alive in the super regionals, each from the Sun Belt Conference, the American Athletic Conference (AAC), and the Missouri Valley Conference. The Big Ten and Big 12 also have one each. Then you have the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), which carry the most teams in the super regionals at five followed by the Southeastern Conference (SEC) with four.
The parity that college baseball presents year in and year out is what makes it one of the most beautiful sports on Earth. The NCAA baseball super regionals begin on Friday with eight spots on the line for a trip to the College World Series.
Teams From Each Conference That Made the Super Regionals
Â
ACC – North Carolina, Florida State, Louisville, Miami, Duke (5)
The ACC went 22-10 in the regionals. Five of nine teams in the conference that made it to the NCAA Tournament advanced to the super regionals, which is the most of any in college baseball. Two national seeds remain from the conference with No. 5 North Carolina and No. 9 Florida State. Florida State, Louisville, and Duke all went 3-0 this past weekend. It was an overall great weekend for the ACC.
Now looking ahead, the ACC will be guaranteed at least one team in the College World Series as Louisville will face Miami in the super regionals.
Florida State has a matchup with another national seed in the Corvallis Super Regional against No. 8 Oregon State. North Carolina draws Arizona while Duke faces the Cinderella in Murray State.
The Tar Heels have the best odds to represent the ACC as national champions.
SEC – Tennessee, Arkansas, Auburn, LSU (4)
There’s a lot to say about what transpired in the SEC this past weekend. First, the good. The conference sent a record-breaking 13 teams to the NCAA Tournament and tied the record with eight regional hosts.
Now here’s the bad. Of those 13 teams, only four remain standing. It gets worse. Two of those teams to be eliminated were Vanderbilt and Texas, both the number one and two overall seeds in the NCAA Tournament. Not only did Vanderbilt lose but they didn’t even reach the regional final.
With that loss, they became the first top national seed to miss the regional final since the current format began in 1999. It was also only the second time that the top two national seeds both went down since 1999, with the other instance being in 2014.
With the controversy surrounding the SEC on several topics recently, this wasn’t a good look but we can circle back to good news. All four of the teams remaining were top-16 national seeds. Arkansas is the No. 3 national seed, Auburn No. 4, LSU No. 6, and Tennessee No. 14. This is the best group of teams between the SEC and ACC. And also like the ACC, the SEC is guaranteed at least one spot in the College World Series as Arkansas and Tennessee will square off in the Fayetteville Super Regional.
The SEC has delivered the last five national champions in college baseball and has a pretty good shot to make it six in a row according to the odds at Fanduel.
Big 12 – Arizona, West Virginia (2)
Two Big 12 teams are going to the super regionals in 2025 and one of them is a newcomer. In their first year in the conference, Arizona won the Big 12 tournament, going 3-0. They took that momentum into the regionals where they also went 3-0 to advance, beating Cal Poly twice and Utah Valley. Getting another sweep, this time in the supers, will be tough as they face No. 5 national seed North Carolina but Arizona is one of the hottest teams in the country so they have a chance in this one.
While Arizona won the conference tournament, West Virginia won the regular season championship and they showed why during the regional. Like the Wildcats, the Mountaineers went 3-0 this past weekend with two wins over Kentucky and one over No. 11 national seed Clemson. Also like Arizona, West Virginia will have to beat a high national seed as they get No. 6 LSU.Â
Big Ten – UCLA (1)
Four teams represented the Big Ten in the NCAA Tournament and two earned national seeds, UCLA and Oregon. Now as we head to the super regionals, only one team remains, the UCLA Bruins.
They came into the tournament as the No. 15 national seed and went 3-0 in the Los Angeles Regional. This weekend they face a hot UTSA team, who also went 3-0 this weekend and pulled off a stunning upset to advance. UTSA will look to do the same here but UCLA boasts a powerful offensive punch and has one of the best if not the best player in college baseball with Roch Cholowsky.Â
AAC – UTSA (1)
UTSA is the lone representative of the American Athletic Conference left and they made noise in a huge way. They went 3-0 to open the tournament and two of those wins were against Texas, who was the No. 2 overall seed.Â
Now they face another tough task going against UCLA, the No. 15 national seed. The Roadrunners are a pesky team who won’t go away. They have grit and the mentality to tire the opponent so while UCLA has a loaded team, UTSA shouldn’t’ be taken lightly.
Sun Belt – Coastal Carolina (1)
One of the most impressive teams all season long has been Coastal Carolina. They went 51-11 overall with a 26-4 record in the Sun Belt. Including going 3-0 in the Conway Regional, they’ve won 21 games in a row.Â
Their reward for their stellar play in the regional? No. 4 national seed Auburn. Because of that draw, Coastal Carolina won’t host the super regional despite hosting on opening weekend. The story of this series will be the Auburn offense vs Coastal Carolina’s pitching.Â
Missouri Valley – Murray State (1)
For the fourth time in the last five years, the Missouri Valley Conference has had a team in the super regionals. Dallas Baptists in 2021, Indiana State in 2023, Evansville in 2024, and now Murray State in 2025. This is the first time in program history that Murray State advanced to the supers and they did it as a four seed. It also marks the 10th time a four-seed did so under the current NCAA Tournament format.
To advance, they beat Georgia Tech and went 2-1 against Ole Miss, the one seed in the Oxford Regional and the No. 7 national seed. Murray State now has another tough task ahead of them, facing Duke to try and keep the Cinderella story alive.
Independent – Oregon State (1)
