NBA Draft: Lonnie Walker potential fits
1 : New York Knicks
The New York Knicks are in the need of a wing player as we have discussed with some of the previous prospects. The Knicks could use a wing who can contribute at all levels on the offensive and defensive end. Walker has an up and down season at Miami last season due to his minutes and the lack of shots that he got in the offense. Lonnie Walker has been climbing up the charts since the combine due to his impressive numbers during all of the test and with his workouts. He could be the guy that the Knicks are looking for with his contributions on both ends of the floor. Walker can provide instant offense and has the potential to be a lock down defender at the NBA level with his quickness and size. Lonnie Walker could thrive under David Fizdale and working with guys like Courtney Lee, Tim Hardaway, and Lance Thomas.
2 : Los Angeles Clippers
The Los Angeles Clippers have back to back picks in the first round at number 12 and 13 due to the Blake Griffin trade at the deadline. We discussed the Clippers with Collin Sexton due to the Clippers moving forward. Lonnie Walker could be another intriguing option for the Clippers and pairing him with Sexton in the backcourt for the future could become dynamic. The Clippers have an interesting scenario in this years draft with having back to back picks in the lottery. Lonnie Walker could become the go to guy on the Clippers with some work and help from the coaching staff. The Clippers could also look to pair their two picks together to try to move up in the draft and land a superstar.
3 : Washington Wizards
The Washington Wizards have the 15th overall pick in the draft and the first pick outside of the lottery. The Washington Wizards are one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference and could be a piece or two away from contending next season. Lonnie Walker could be a huge piece for the Wizards due to his huge potential. Pairing Walker with John Wall and Bradley Beal could add another scoring option on the offensive end and add a defensive stopper alongside Otto Porter Jr. The Washington Wizards could use some scoring punch off the bench and Walker could provide that as the sixth man for the Wizards.
4 : Philadelphia 76ers
The Philadelphia 76ers had a season for the ages last year after being at the bottom of the league for the past couple of seasons. The 76ers have a young core to build around with some nice veterans last season. Lonnie Walker could provide a nice addition off the bench for the 76ers or in the starting lineup if they decide to not bring back some of their starters. Lonnie Walker is a combo guard who can score at a high level with consistency from anywhere and can bring defensive intensity. Lonnie Walker could start at the point guard position alongside Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid, Robert Covington and JJ Redick if they wanted to go small which is what todays game is moving towards and have one of the most deadly starting lineups in the league offensively and defensively.
