Baseball is back and we can’t wait for it to get underway. If the current situation lets baseball start up, this season will be a whole lot different. After a couple of months of “negotiations”, the MLB implemented a 60 game season. We’ll get to see the home runs, great defensive plays, and spectacular pitching performances. We’ll also see players in a race for MLB milestones in 2020. As we saw in the past, these races can be one of the most entertaining things in sports. When baseball starts up on July 23rd, all eyes will be on the game we love.
MLB Milestones To Look Out For in 2020
Pujols’ Homerun and RBI Chase
“The Machine”, Albert Pujols, is in a chase for two big milestones this upcoming season. One of them is the home run chase. He’s only five home runs away from 661, which would pass Willie Mays for fifth all-time. After Mays, he’ll chase Alex Rodriquez for fourth all-time with 696. Pujols was one of the most dominant hitters in MLB history and that goes beyond just hitting home runs.
Not only was Pujols one of the best power hitters in MLB history, but he was also one of the best pure all-around hitters. He’s not only in a homerun chase but he’s also in an RBI chase. Pujols is only 11 RBI’s away from 2,086, which would pass Rodriquez for third all-time. He has his eye on a bigger prize in the future in trying to catch Hank Aaron for first all-time (2,297). We don’t know how much Pujols has left in the tank but as long as he’s in the league, he’ll have a good shot to keep climbing both lists.
Kershaw’s K’s
Clayton Kershaw has been one of the most dominant pitchers in MLB history. When he’s healthy, nobody can take over a game like Kershaw. He’s known for his devastating curveball and that pitch has got him a lot of strikeouts in his career. Kershaw has been climbing up the strikeout ranks over the past several years and this year, he could reach a great milestone. He’s struck out 2,464 batters in his career and with 36 more, he can reach an impressive 2,500 strikeouts. Kershaw would also enter the top 40 all-time in strikeouts. He’ll be targeting for number 3,000 and with a few more good years left in him, he can certainly get there.
Trout’s Swimming For 300
There’s another star on the homerun watch and that’s Mike Trout. Ever since taking a full-time roll in 2012, he’s been an all-star every year and has hit over 30 home runs six times. Trout has been a pure all-around hitter his whole career and that includes home runs. He currently has 285 and with 15 more, he could reach 300 home runs for his career. When it’s all said and done, Trout will go down as one of if not the best baseball players in history. His numbers are historic at the age of 28 and we can’t wait to see what he has in store for the rest of his career.

Justin Verlander: 3,000 innings pitched
