Five Best Odds to Win the 2021-22 Stanley Cup

The quest for the Stanley Cup is set to get underway on Tuesday as we get ready for one of the most anticipated seasons in recent memory. The odds to win the Stanley Cup have come out and there aren’t too many surprises to speak of. Out of the top five teams on this list, four of them had the best odds to win it all last season and all of them had the best odds for the 2019-2020 season. There are a lot of teams that are hungry for a championship but only one can hoist the most prestigious trophy in the world.

Five Best Odds to Win the 2021-22 Stanley Cup

Avalanche (+500)

After having a total of only 48 points in the 2016-17 season, the Colorado Avalanche has made the playoffs for four consecutive years. This team has been trending up for a while now and this year is no different. The Avalanche have the best odds to win the Stanley Cup this season after having one of the most talented rosters in the league. They have an elite top line of Gabriel Landeskog, Nathan MacKinnon, and Mikko Rantanen along with a young and talented core on defense. Colorado has fallen short in the playoffs over the past few years but they are poised to finally get over the hump and win the Stanley Cup.

Lightning (+550)

The Tampa Bay Lightning come into the 2021-22 season as defending back-to-back Stanley Cup Champions. It’s true that they’ve lost a few key pieces this offseason but it’s also true that they have talent littered throughout this lineup to cover up the losses. Their top line, led by Nikita Kucherov, is one of the best if not the best in the league. The Lightning also have one of the best defensive cores and a top goalie between the pipes with Andrei Vasilevskiy. With fans returning to full capacity, this team will have even more energy and drive to perform great. There’s no reason to believe why the Lightning doesn’t have a great chance at a 3-peat.

Golden Knights (+600)

Ever since coming into the league, the Vegas Golden Knights have been nothing short of impressive. They’ve made the playoffs every single year, including a Stanley Cup Final appearance in their inaugural season. This past season, they beat the talented Avalanche in the second round but fell short in the conference final. The Golden Knights come into this season without the goaltender they started their franchise with, as they traded Marc-Andre Fleury to the Blackhawks. Even with that loss, they’re in good hands with Robin Lehner taking over the reins in net. This team also has talent and depth all around to be a legit Stanley Cup contender.

Maple Leafs (+1100)

After the Golden Knights, there’s a pretty significant drop in the odds. With that being said, the Toronto Maple Leafs are on a mission to finally live up to the hype and get over the hump. This team has been signing talent left and right the past few offseasons, they just can’t seem to put it all together. They have one of the best players in the league with Auston Matthews paired with Mitch Marner on that top line, who was top five in points last season.

They also have some good pieces on defense that can compete. The duo of Petr Mrazek and Jack Campbell looks like a pretty interesting tandem between the pipes. The Maple Leafs have been laughed at for not being able to get it done so winning the Stanley Cup for the first time since 1967 would feel great for that franchise.

Bruins (+1200)

Boston Bruins fans won’t like the fact that they are behind the Maple Leafs in the Stanley Cup Odds but if you go on the past between these two teams, there’s nothing to worry about. The Bruins had to shake up their depth this offseason but did a decent job with replacing most. They also will have a new look in net for now as Tuukka Rask is dealing with an injury and Jaroslav Halak left via free agency. Even though Rask is unsigned, he only wants to play for the Bruins so expect a deal sooner rather than later. In the meantime, Linus Ullmark and Jeremy Swayman will be in the crease.

One thing is clear on this team and that’s the perfection line of Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand, and David Pastrnak. This trio is probably the best in hockey and they’ve shown it for a long time. Last season, Marchand had the third-most points in the league to go along with both him and Pastrnak being top 20 in goals. No one knows how the future of this team will play out but for right now, the Stanley Cup is the only thing on their mind.
