We are getting to the point of the college basketball season where teams need to start figuring it out. This season has been one of the craziest in history. Teams are getting upset left and right. We are getting to the point where typical upsets shouldn’t even be considered upsets. These types of games are expected almost every day but that’s why we love the game. There are a lot of teams on upset alert on Saturday but none of them would be a surprise.
College Basketball: Upset Alerts On Saturday
#6 Kansas (vs Texas)
Kansas got a nice win at Oklahoma in their last game but before that, they lost to Baylor 67-55. Last Saturday marked only their third loss of the season and it wasn’t a pretty one. Baylor jumped out to a big lead and never looked back. Every time Kansas would make a comeback attempt, Baylor would keep answering. Baylor was ranked four at the time and they were a tough team but not many expected that. Kansas wants to avenge that with multiple wins in a row and that started with Oklahoma and will continue with Texas on Saturday.
Kansas in 13-3 but Texas isn’t too far behind at 12-4. Texas is coming off of two big wins against Kansas State and Oklahoma State. A player to watch on the Longhorns is Matt Coleman who has double-digit points in his past four games and is averaging 12.1 points a game. Another player to watch for Texas is Courtney Ramey. He is averaging 11.4 points and almost five rebounds per game. He has a very nice game last time out against Oklahoma State where he scored 14 and had nine rebounds with six assists.
Kansas, on the other hand, have a lot of players to watch, including Devon Dotson, who is averaging 18 points a game, and Udoka Azubuike, who is averaging almost 12 points a game and nine rebounds a game. Texas is by no means one of the best in the country but if they can get more from their stars and bench then they can make it a game at home.
#10 Kentucky vs (Arkansas)
Arkansas has been doing very well as they are 14-2. They are having a surprise season so far as they have won their last six out of seven with that one loss being to a pesky LSU team by two points. The Hogs have several standout players like Isaiah Joe and Mason Jones. Joe is averaging 17.8 points per game while Jones is averaging 18.1 points per game and also averaging 6.1 rebounds. They also have Jimmy Whitt who is averaging 14.8 points per game. At least one of these players has over 20 points in these last three games. Jones and Whitt had 24 and 22 points against LSU, Joe had 34 points against Ole Miss, and Whitt had an amazing 30 points in their last game against Vanderbilt.
Kentucky wants revenge from their last game as they lost against unranked South Carolina. They aren’t having a typical season as they’ve had two bad upsets so far. Just when they are about to climb back up, they get knocked down again. This is no small task against a hot Arkansas team. Don’t be surprised if we see another top ten team go down.
#21 Ohio State vs (Penn State)
Ohio State has been falling and falling hard. They’ve lost four out of their last five and now travel to face 12-4 Penn State. Penn State hasn’t been playing that well either as they’ve lost their last three games. The Buckeyes have a player to watch in Kaleb Wesson. He has three triple-doubles in his last four games and was one rebound away in two of his games to make in five in a row. Wesson has been the one positive to a struggling team but they are facing another struggling team. Penn State has had a couple of great performances by Lamar Stevens and Myreon Jones but like Ohio State, they lost. Both teams look to get back on track so it should be a great game for college basketball fans.

#4 Auburn (@Florida)
#18 Seton Hall (@St. John’s)
The Final Shot
There are a lot of great games on Saturday. Like always this season, teams will be on high upset alert. It’s inevitable we see at least two or three on Saturday and maybe even more. If there’s any time a ranked team needs to put their foot down and start winning more, it’s this weekend because we are getting closer and closer to March. The madness has already started so just under two months from now will be complete and utter chaos.
