Buffalo Bills vs New York Giants – Week Two

As week two rolls in motion, there are teams who are getting a strong start. There are teams that seem to be stuck in neutral. Of course, it is very early to judge too much, but let’s take a look at some of the biggest points from week two. Specifically the Buffalo Bills vs the New York Giants.

Buffalo Bills vs New York Giants – Week Two

Starting Hard then Fizzling Out

The New York Giants came flying out of the gate with a 75-yard drive and a touchdown on their first drive. Unfortunately for fans and the team, a pattern that has happened all too often reoccurred. The next five possessions of the first half were three punts, one missed field goal, and an interception. The first of two interceptions by Eli Manning for the game. The Giants wouldn’t get another score until late in the third quarter after the Buffalo Bills scored 21 unanswered points.

This has been seen too many times in the Giants playing not only this year but the past few as well. There seems to be a sense of no timing between Manning and his team. Is this a coaching problem? A not enough practicing problem? Or is it Manning himself since he gets a lot of the blame? There seems to be no easy fix, and worst of all, not enough time left in Manning’s career.

Building From Last Week’s Momentum

Last week it looked like the Buffalo Bills were on their way to a certain loss against division rival New York Jets. But staying to their game plan and having the confidence to push back, they came back with 17 unanswered points. Winning the first game of the season and stunning the Jets at home.

This week after the quick hit by the Giants the Bills could have easily let that get them off of their game. Instead, they pushed hard not only on offense but on defense as well. Shattering any attempts at scoring by Manning and company and putting up 21 unanswered points, much like their comeback of last week. The Bills have been working on rebuilding their organization for the past several years. Making the playoffs in 2017 for the first time in well over a decade. They are now making the push to go even further this year.

A Good Quarterback Competition

Even though it was a losing effort, Manning still put up decent numbers the biggest mark being the incomplete passes and the two interceptions. On the other side of the field Bills quarterback, Josh Allen, put up almost identical yards, but with much more precision and no interceptions. Any team needs its leader to set the pace and tone of the game. At this moment, Manning does not have the reins held tight enough to bring his team home. While in contrast, Allen has been getting smoother and getting the communication down on the Bills.

Moving on to Week Three

With the Bills being undefeated and the Giants being winless, there is obvious signs of who is having an easier time. However, many super bowl winning teams have started their season even worse than just two mere losses. This season will be won by those who can get great action and communication on the field. Again, if Manning is going to add another ring to his hand, he has only a little time to do it.
