BIG3 Basketball: Top Week 4 Matchups

BIG3 Basketball rolls on into week four on Friday and continues on Sunday as they hit the halfway point of the 2022 regular season. We saw the last two remaining undefeated teams go down last week in close games. This week will tell us a lot about what these teams are going to look like moving forward into the second half of the season. It’s set up to be the best week so far in the BIG3 in terms of matchups and it all kicks off tomorrow.

BIG3 Basketball: Top Week 4 Matchups

Bivouac (0-3) vs Triplets (2-1) (Friday, July 8th)

This will be a very interesting game to watch. Bivouac comes into this one as the only team in the BIG3 not to win a game so far this season. Despite the record, this team has a lot of offensive firepower. They’ve scored 47, 48, and 49 points in all of their games, losing by only three in each.

Bivouac is led by captain Gerald Green, who’s been one of the best players in the league. This past week in a 51-48 loss, Green scored 17 points with five rebounds. He had help in this one with teammate Corey Brewer scoring 19 points. Jeff Ayres also added in a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Bivouac had a few great performances but they also let their opponent spread the ball around and fill the stat sheet. It won’t get any easier against a Triplets team who has extra motivation after losing their first game of the season last week. The Triplets lost by two against a Ball Hogs team who came into week three without a win.

As usual, Joe Johnson had another outstanding performance as he tallied 30 points for the Triplets. Alonzo Gee put together a solid performance with 12 points and seven rebounds, two steals, and a block but scoring was scarce after that. If they just got a couple more points from others, we’d be looking at an undefeated team. The Triplets will need more players to step up this week when they face one of the best offenses in the league.

Aliens (2-1) vs Trilogy (2-1) (Sunday, July 10th)

A pair of 2-1 teams face off as the Aliens and Trilogy are both coming off of big week three wins. The Aliens were able to get past a pesky Bivouac team with great performances up and down the lineup. Deshawn Stephens was their best player last week, gathering 17 points with 12 rebounds. Karlis Lasmanis had 14 points while Dusan Bulut has 12. Tomislav Ivosev even had a near double-double off the bench with eight points and nine rebounds.

This was the first time that the Aliens have been at full strength and they looked great. It took a total team effort to pull this off and they might have to do it again against the defending champions.

Trilogy captured an amazing comeback win over the Ghost Ballers last week. They trailed 25-12 at halftime and it looked like it was over but it was far from that. The duo of Mike Taylor and Chris Johnson was great once again for the opponent but Earl Clark and Isaiah Briscoe were even better for Trilogy. Both scored 21 points with Clark also having nine rebounds to go along with it while Briscoe had three rebounds with four assists.

With Stephen Jackson as head coach, this team has a lot of fight in them and a never give up mentality as we saw on display last week. These are two very talented teams that look like they will be fighting for position come playoff time.
