Week 5 featured some prominent fantasy performances with the likes of Adam Thielen, Chase Claypool, and Ryan Tannehill all getting over 25 fantasy points. Looking ahead, to week six, there will be lots of close matchups, as well as matchups that have a great impact on the playoffs. In these close and important games, many players should step up and have big games which means lots of fantasy points shall be scored. With that in mind, here are the best Week 6 fantasy matchups in points per reception leagues.
Best Week 6 Fantasy Football Matchups
Quarterback
Ryan Fitzpatrick versus New York Jets
Ryan Fitzpatrick is a fantasy player that has been on the continuous rise. After scoring a mere 5.44 fantasy points in his first game, Fitzpatrick has racked up 98.42 total fantasy points in the past four weeks. That averages out to 24.6 fantasy points a game, which puts him in the top ten among fantasy quarterbacks. As the numbers have proven, Fitzpatrick is a quarterback that should start almost every game from now on. Additionally, his rise won’t stop this week. He is going up against the disastrous New York Jets. The Jets have been awful on defense and offense, but let’s focus on the defense. The Jets this year have given up 161 points throughout the first five weeks. The Jets have a play and personnel problem, which just leads them to be poor on the field. They aren’t going to play well, which means Fitzpatrick should have a field day. In general, any quarterback in the league should be able to score over 25 fantasy points against the Jets.
Running back
Derrick Henry versus Houston Texans
First off, after seeing Henry stiff-arm Josh Norman into space, that Texans defense will be afraid to tackle him. In all seriousness though, Henry has been historically good against the Texans. Speaking of the Texans, they haven’t been good at all this year, especially on defense where they have given up the fifth-most fantasy points to running backs. Additionally, although Henry has somewhat underperformed by his standards by averaging 17.7 fantasy points a season, he played well against a good Bills defense where he put up 19.3 fantasy points. He will succeed against a lackluster Texans defense. Look for him to get over 110 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown.
Wide Receiver
DeAndre Hopkins versus Dallas Cowboys
The Cardinals right now are looking like geniuses, as their trade for Hopkins was probably the best offseason move this season. Hopkins leads the league with 528 receiving yards, while averaging 22 fantasy points a game, which ranks him as the number one fantasy receiver. Besides Hopkins already currently being the best fantasy receiver, he is going to have one of the easiest matchups. He is going up against a bottom-five defense in the Cowboys, who have an awful secondary. In fact, the Cowboys have given up the second-most fantasy points to receivers in the league. In this game, defense will be optional, so a shootout is highly likely. That means Hopkins should have over 12 targets. I predict Hopkins to have one of the fantasy games this season with him hauling in over 10 receptions, over 120 receiving yards, and two receiving touchdowns.
Tight End
Evan Engram versus Washington Football Team
Engram was expected to be a star fantasy tight end this season but has severely underperformed. He isn’t even in the top 15 of fantasy tight ends and his highest-scoring game has come when he scored 12.5 fantasy points. That said, Engram is going up against a poor Washington defense and this game might just give him a spark. Speaking of Washington, they have allowed the third-most fantasy points in the league to tight ends. After a strong Week 1, their defense has looked out of sorts. Additionally, for the Giants, Daniel Jones has started to look more comfortable. With that Washington defense and Jones on the rise, Evan Engram should have a great fantasy day.
Defense/Special Teams
Colts D/ST versus Cincinnati Bengals
The Colts defense has looked very impressive this season. Some might say it is a super bowl-caliber defense, and I have to agree with that. From the fantasy side, they are the number-one ranked defense, as they average 13.6 fantasy points a game. Yes, the Colts defense is great, but what is key in this matchup is how awful the Bengals are. Joe Burrow hasn’t performed that great, but that is because his offensive line is horrible. In fact, Burrow is projected to get sacked over 70 times this season. The Colts’ solid defensive line should have no problem pressuring Joe Burrow. Their pressures will lead to sacks, fumbles, and Burrow throwing picks. Expect this Colts defense to pile on sacks, have a couple of forced fumbles, and even an interception.
Kicker
Younghoe Koo versus Minnesota Vikings
First of all, Younghoe Koo is one of the most productive fantasy kickers as he averages, 11.5 fantasy points a game. He is in the best matchup for a kicker against the Vikings because the Vikings have given up the most field goals this season at 15. Additionally, the Atlanta Falcons offense will be able to score touchdowns against the Vikings defense, which will give Younghoe Koo the opportunities to kick extra points. Most importantly, though, there are moments where the Falcons won’t score a touchdown and will rely on Younghoe Koo’s kicking ability. Expect Koo to get over 12 fantasy points.
