5. Mike Soroka, RHP
Mike Soroka was selected by the Braves in the first round of the 2015 draft. He is a big, strong, and durable kid. Despite being only 18 years old he pitched a total of 143 innings last season. he had a record of 9-9 in 24 starts with 125 strikeouts. The big righty pitches down in the zone a lot. His ground ball pitch is his sinking fastball that sits in the low 90’s. He also has an excellent breaking ball and an above average change-up. Sirocco goes right after hitters. Sirocco is currently, and will continue to be the youngest pitcher at his level.
4. Kolby Allard, LHP
Kolby Allard is only 19 years old and is already one of the best lefty prospects in minor league baseball. Like Soroka, he was one of the Braves first round picks in the 2015 draft. His fastball sits in the low 90’s but can reach a little higher at times. It has a nice cutting movement on it. Allard has one of the better curveballs in the minors. He has excellent command for his pitches and a very deceptive delivery. In 16 starts in the minors last season the lefty posted a 8-3 record with a 2.98 ERA and 95 strikeouts. The talented lefty has the ability to be a top of the line starter.
3. Kevin Maitan, SS
Kevin Maitan is only 17 years old and is already a top prospect. He is a switch hitter and can hit for power and average form both sides of the plate. He also shows an extremely advanced approach at the plate. With second and short both being blocked, Maitan could be moved to third base. He has the arm and instincts to handle the hot corner. At only 17, he has the ability to develop into something really special.
2. Ozzie Albies, 2B/SS
Ozzie Albies is the Braves #2 prospect, and a consensus top 10 prospect in all of baseball. He made his debut in 2015, and has raced through the system. Allies has a quick, smooth, compact swing. Last season in AA he hit .321 with 22 doubles, 7 triples, 4 home runs, drove in 53 runs, and stole 21 bases. He figures to form an elite double play combo with Dansby Swanson for years to come
1. Dansby Swanson, SS
With brief big league experience and success, it’s easy to say Dansby Swanson is the front runner for Rookie of the Year going into this season. The kid is an absolute stud. Appearing in 38 games in Atlanta, he hit to an average of .302 with 7 doubles, 3 home runs, and 17 RBI’s. Swanson has a sweet, smooth swing and some excellent bat speed.
