The 2018 MLB season kicked off this past week. There are obviously some clear cut playoff teams in the mix. The Houston Astros look primed for another World Series run. Here are the 2018 World Series favorites from the American League.
4 Cleveland Indians
The Indians are one of the most solid all around teams in baseball. Their offense is great led by spark plugs Francisco Lindor and Jose Ramirez. Corey Kluber is the ace of that strong and deep rotation. And their bullpen is solid with Cody Allen and of course lefty Andrew Miller. This could be the year the Indians take home a World Championship.
3 Boston Red Sox
The Red Sox will certainly give the Yankees a run for their money in 2018. Their pitching is definitely better than the Yankees. With Chris Sale, David Price, Rick Porcello, and Drew Pomeranz they have a solid rotation. Their bullpen is also pretty solid, back-ended by Craig Kimbrel. The offense is also much improved with the signing of prized free agent JD Martinez. Martinez will provide a massive boost in the power department. Here come the Red Sox!
2 New York Yankees
The Yankees are built for a World Series run. Their offense is legit. Giancarlo Stanton, Aaron Judge, Gary Sanchez, good luck opposing pitchers. That lineup is as deep as can be. Their bullpen is also good, not great but still pretty solid. The biggest issue is their starting rotation. Although Luis Severino and Sonny Gray is a nice 1-2 combo.
1 Houston Astros
The defending champs have a chance to repeat in 2018, they are my pick. The offense is relatively the same with that talented young core. Alex Bregman is looking primed for an even bigger year with more experience under his belt. There will be a race for the MVP between the middle infield duo of Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa. The rotation will be even stronger with a full season of Justin Verlander and the Gerritt Cole acquisition. Look out for the Astros, they are hungry for that repeat.
