We are getting closer and closer to the highly anticipated 2018 World Series. Currently, the Boston Red Sox lead 2-1 in the American League Championship Series while the National League Championship Series is currently tied 2-2 between the Milwaukee Brewers and the Los Angeles Dodgers. It’s easily anyone’s game at this point with seven total games remaining. But who has the better odds at taking the mount on October 23 for the first game of the 2018 World Series? It’s likely a World Series match-up between the Boston Red Sox and the Milwaukee Brewers.
A Likely World Series Match-up: Boston Vs. Milwaukee
Boston in Favor
The 108-54 Boston Red Sox have been the talk of Major League Baseball all season. The last time the Red Sox won the World Series title was in 2013 when they beat the St. Louis Cardinals 4-2. This was also the last time that Boston has appeared in the World Series.
Before game 1 of the ALCS, it seemed like all the cards lied in Boston’s hands for the American League title, but odds seemed to pin them against the defending champions, the Houston Astros (103-59). Prior to the start of the playoffs, ESPN gave the Red Sox 13% Worl Series odds while the Astros had 32% odds. But right now it seems like Boston has taken the favor again headed into game four (Oct. 17) of the ALCS. Right now, everyone is scrambling to make their bets for the Red Sox to win their ninth World Series title in team history. If you are one of them, you could always check Vernons Sports in Canada for an advantage if you are looking for legal online betting sites.
Even if the Astros take games four and five (Oct. 18) in Houston to take the series lead at 3-2, Boston gets to return home for games six (Oct. 20) and seven (Oct. 21) for the possibility of stealing the series. And better yet, the Red Sox look forward to the return of pitcher Chris Sale after he was hospitalized for an illness.
Milwaukee in Favor
The Milwaukee Brewers (96-67) are a different team in 2018 than in the past and are a serious contender to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers (92-71) in the NLCS. Initially, the Dodgers had the better odds for a shot at the World Series. In reality, it’s anyone’s game at this point with a tied series of 2-2. Either team just need two wins to take the NLCS. Even if the Dodgers win game five (Oct. 17) in the final game in Los Angeles, the Brewers have the advantage to advance 4-3 to the World Series with games six (Oct. 19) and seven (Oct. 20) in Milwaukee.
The Brewers have never won a World Series championship. The last World Series appearance by the Brewers was in 1982 and things look to change with pitchers Wade Miley and Clayton Kershaw competing for the NLCS lead for their respective teams, with game five being possibly the last game for both.
