Quarterbacks are one of the most valuable positions in the NFL, and they have won the vast majority of recent MVP awards. A great quarterback can make a huge impact for a team.
Now that Week 1 is over, we got our first chance to see how some of the NFL’s best quarterbacks are playing this season. It’s still very early, so one game doesn’t tell us everything, but it gives us a good starting point.
Here are my top 5 NFL Quarterbacks entering Week 2.

5. C.J. Stroud, Houston Texans
C.J. Stroud played against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, and nearly led the Texans to a comeback victory. He brought his team to the 18 yard line, with 16 seconds remaining on the clock, But he got sacked by Greg Rousseau, and fumbled, ending the game in a 36-31 defeat.
He threw for 274 passing yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions,while completing 26 for 38 of his passes. If Stroud can take care of the ball, then the star QB can be one of the best in the league. Even with the disappointing ending to that game though, Stroud impressed.
4. Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles
Jalen Hurts played well against the Washington Commanders leading the Eagles to a 24-22 victory. He completed 14 of 25 passes for 203 yards and three touchdowns, while rushing for 46 yards on the ground.
Hurts had one of the best throws of week 1, throwing to Dallas Goedert for a 17 yards pass gain. Hurts looked comfortable in Sean Mannion’s offense, and showed that he could be a major part of the Eagles’ success. Hurts duel-threat can tear other teams defenses.
3. Caleb Williams, Chicago Bears
Caleb Williams, and the Bears defeated the Carolina Panthers 59-31 in week 1. Williams had an impressive performance throwing for 269 yards and two touchdowns while adding 69 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.
Williams made history by becoming the first Bears player to record the numbers in a single game. If he could play like that against the Minnesota Vikings. He can move higher up the list.
2. Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens
Lamar Jackson had a great start to his season with a road win over the Indianapolis Colts 41-23. He threw for 324 passing yards, one passing touchdowns, while completing 17 of 25 passes. while adding 40 yards rushing, and a rushing touchdown.
Jackson looks to be doing pretty good with his new offensive coordinator Declan Doyle’s scheme. Jackson has won two MVPs awards, he already really looks like a quarterback who could be the MVP conversion again this year.
1. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills
Josh Allen had a great start to the season with a victory over the Texans on the road 36-31. Allen threw for 334 yards, and two passing touchdowns, and completed 20 of 29 of his passes. While rushing for two touchdowns, and 23 yards.
With how he has done so far he is definitely on my top list for the MVP this year.
