NFL insider Diana Russini has reported that the Jacksonville Jaguars have been listening to offers on their star wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. Here are five teams that should trade for him.
Five Brian Thomas Jr. Trades That Make the Most Sense
Things change quickly in the NFL. After being a season removed from a stellar rookie season in which Thomas Jr. caught 87 passes for 1,282 yards, it has been reported that the Jags have been listening to offers for Thomas Jr. so far this season. Thomas Jr. has been disappointing. He has 27 catches for 365 yards, but what’s more concerning are the drops the wideout has had this season, and also the film of what looks to be, at times, Thomas Jr. not catching passes to avoid a hit.
Even though Thomas Jr. is only in his second season, he was not drafted by the current regime in Jacksonville, led by General Manager James Gladstone and head coach Liam Coen. Thomas Jr. will draw plenty of interest around the league as a 23-year-old receiver.
Tennessee Titans
An interdivision trade would be unlikely as Jacksonville and Tennessee play in the same division; however, the Titans are in need of top-flight talent at receiver. The top pick from the 2025 draft, Cam Ward, has gotten off to a rough start, partly due to his supporting cast around him. Making a trade for Thomas Jr. would solidify a top playmaking talent and help continue Ward’s development.
Tennessee’s offensive rankings are near the bottom of the league across the board. Ward’s efficiency metrics are among the lowest in the league, so the Titans need to call about any talent that could potentially be available.
Washington Commanders
The Washington Commanders have been dealing with a slew of injuries to their receiving room. Terry McLaurin has missed most of the season after signing a big extension in the offseason, and Deebo Samuel has been banged up the last couple of weeks. Washington also put Noah Brown on injured reserve. Washington needs more playmakers if they want to make a push to make the playoffs in 2025
A bonus for Washington to be interested in Thomas Jr.’s services is that he and Jayden Daniels both starred together at LSU and remain close friends.
New Orleans Saints
Thomas Jr. could return to his home state, where he starred at LSU, and add another top playmaking option to a Saints team that could use more playmakers. The Saints look to be in the midst of a rebuild, so they may not want to part with the necessary draft capital it would take to get Thomas Jr. However, Thomas Jr. is young and is on a cost-controlled rookie contract.
Carolina Panthers
The Panthers could inject more talent into their already young offense by adding a talent like Thomas Jr. Thomas would be paired up with 2025 top-ten pick Tetairoa McMillan, and those two could arguably be the best young wide receiver duo in the league. While the Panthers are still in the midst of evaluating quarterback Bryce Young, he would be wise to keep adding talent around him that can get the most out of him.
Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers have a ton of draft capital for 2026 to play around with, so if they wanted to use resources to make a move for Thomas Jr., they could. Thomas would be paired with DK Metcalf and would replace the void left by George Pickens, whom the Steelers traded this offseason.
Aaron Rodgers will need more than just Metcalf to go to on the outside if the Steelers want to be serious about making a postseason run in the AFC. Thomas Jr. will fit perfectly next to Metcalf as the Steelers try to make a run in what could be Rodgers’s last season.
