I’ve had enough of this talk that the Los Angeles Dodgers are ruining baseball. What the hell are we talking about? Yes, they signed Roki Sasaki. Yes, they signed Tanner Scott. Yes, they signed Ha-Seoung Kim. If you really think about it though, the only team who has really made those many acquisitions would be the Athletics.
No, the Dodgers Are Not Ruining Baseball
Instead of talking about the Dodgers ruining baseball, why don’t we talk about the other 29 owners ruining baseball, as I say time and time again, baseball needs a salary floor, so these mega-millionaire owners, actually spend money. Every single owner/ownership group can afford to pay the luxury tax fee. They don’t want to go over the threshold, because they don’t want to win. Just want to make money.
Sasaki accepted less money to join the Dodgers. He didn’t come to the MLB for the money. If he did, he would’ve waited to land Yoshinobu Yamamoto type of contract. He’s here to win championships, and what better team to join than the Dodgers to win some rings?
Sasaki had a lot of avenues. He could’ve been the face of a country if he had signed with Toronto. If he had signed with San Diego, they would’ve worshiped him. It would be the perfect way to make a name for himself. Even if he had gone to the Chicago Cubs, he would’ve been absolutely incredible.
I don’t want to go further into this article without showing you exactly why Sasaki signed with the Dodgers. Here’s what I tweeted on the day of the signing.
“Bro, why are people talking about LAD ruining baseball? Listen up with real sources backing me up.”
“The only reason Roki Sasaki decided to join the Dodgers was because he knows how life works. He was born in Rikuzentakata where 1700 of the population in that city died in a tsunami accident.”
“He knew that life could turn on him at any moment. He wanted to be the best in the MLB, not the money maker. That’s why he signed right now, when he could’ve had a $300 million in 2 years or something. If he had went with the Blue Jays, or any other team, he wouldn’t have had a good chance at a championship. Days are numbered for all of us. He wants to make the most out of it by signing with the champions, the Los Angeles Dodgers. That’s where people go to win championships. So, next time, try to make your team worthy.”
It seems pretty dumb at first, but it isn’t. What I was trying to say was Sasaki knows that things can happen at any time, and if he wants to be known as the best of the best, or if he wants to win a championship, he knows that his best shot is with the Dodgers. Money comes later. Championships come first.
Now, Scott. If you ever saw the Dodgers bullpen last year, you would know that they didn’t play the best. What do you do? You improve it. The Dodgers signed Scott to a four-year, 72-million-dollar deal. But, the Cubs offered four years 69-70 million dollars for the same guy and didn’t get him. They could’ve offered more.
Scott was a Dodgers target the whole year, and even at the trade deadline, but he went to the San Diego Padres at that time. When he hit the open market, the Dodgers made him a priority.
The Dodgers are not ruining baseball. They’re just fixing their holes. I love this tweet by DodgersBeat on X.

The life and times of Dodgers haters.
We all have to remember that the Dodgers were one of the worst teams in the MLB before this dynasty.
Any team could have signed Sasaki. Scott was on the market until January 19th. Kim wasn’t signed until the last day of his period. We need to understand that the Dodgers aren’t ruining baseball, but they are the only ones playing baseball because they’re the only team that wants to win. It’s as simple as this.
You need to spend money to win.
So, don’t ever say that they’re ruining baseball. Don’t say that the Dodgers are the worst. Blame your owners for not spending money. The Dodgers are the best place to play if you want to win championships. That could have been your team if your owner decided to spend.
