Are the Saints, Vikings real? Ranking the 2-0 teams

After two weeks of play, the NFL season has had some surprises. While things remain the same with teams like the Kansas City Chiefs starting 2-0, there are a few surprises, including teams like the New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings sitting at 2-0. Here are the rankings of each 2-0 team after two weeks of the NFL season.

Power Ranking: 2-0 Teams

1. Kansas City Chiefs

The defending champions Kansas City Chiefs have picked off right where they left off from last season. Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Chiefs won a 26-25 nail bitter. A game-winning field goal by Harrison Butker gave the Chiefs the win, banking them two wins against the Baltimore Ravens and the Chiefs to start the season.

Patrick Mahomes hasn’t been playing his best yet, having thrown three interceptions in two games, but it’s safe to assume he eventually starts to play better.

2. Houston Texans

The Houston Texans came into the season with lofty expectations. They were a trendy preseason pick to either reach the AFC Championship game or the Super Bowl. Through two weeks? So far, so good for the Texans. In week one, they picked up a win against a division rival, the Indianapolis Colts, in a game where they rushed for 213 yards.

They beat a young Chicago Bears team Sunday night to go to 2-0. The defense sacked Bears quarterback Caleb Williams seven times and forced two interceptions. Through two weeks, the Texans have shown that they are one of the NFL’s best teams, not just in the AFC.

3. Buffalo Bills

Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills hit the ground running. After a shaky opening half to the Arizona Cardinals in week one, where they were down 17-10, the Bills haven’t looked back since. In week two, they took on the Miami Dolphins on Thursday night football on the road and dominated Miami to the sound of a 31-10 win.

They forced three interceptions on defense, while James Cook got the job done on offense, scoring three touchdowns. Like the Chiefs and Texans, the Bills have shown through two weeks that either side of the ball can get it done for them.

4. New Orleans Saints

Are the New Oreleans Saints real? It is early, but the Saints have been the surprise of the NFL through the first two weeks. In week one, they dominated a Carolina Panthers team, and the win rightfully came with questions because the Panthers are currently one of the worst teams in the NFL.

Well, the Saints indeed upped the ante in week two, going on the road to Dallas and dominating the Dallas Cowboys 44-19. To put the win into perspective, the Cowboys did not have one single regular season loss at home last season.

Through two weeks, the Saints lead the league with 45.5 points per game. They are also third in the league with 405.5 yards per game. New Orleans may not be able to sustain the points per game, but the league should be aware of how dangerous the Saints look at this moment.

5. Minnesota Vikings

Like the New Orleans Saints, the Minnesota Vikings have been one of the biggest surprises through two weeks of the season. A win against the San Francisco 49ers Sunday has put the league on notice about how impressive the Vikings have been so far.

Sam Darnold has completed 72 percent of his passes through two weeks. He signed a one-year deal in the offseason, and Darnold will have a chance to earn more money if he continues to perform well.

6. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers got a big win Sunday going on the road to take down the Detroit Lions. It was somewhat revenge for the Bucs as the Lions defeated them in the divisional round of the NFC playoff last season.

Baker Mayfield has built on his strong season from last year through two games this season.

7. Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks have opened the season against the Denver Broncos and the New England Patriots, and while those aren’t the hardest opponents on their schedule, they were able to take care of business.

Under new coach Mike MacDonald, the Seahawks do have four takeaways which is split between two interceptions and two fumbles. MacDonald was the mastermind behind the best defense in football last season with the Ravens.

8. Los Angeles Chargers

The Jim Harbaugh era is in full force for the Los Angeles Chargers. It was a good way to open the season after ending the 2023 season with five consecutive losses. The run game is alive with J.K. Dobbins going for 100 yards rushing in back-to-back weeks.

With Harbaugh now at the helm for the Chargers they will be a tough out each week for anyone

9. Pittsburgh Steelers

In typical Pittsburgh Steelers fashion, they have two wins in games they shouldn’t have won. They have two wins and are the only team without a passing touchdown to do so. Eventually, the Steelers will need to do more passing the ball, but for now, they can continue to muddy up games and do what they need to win.
