Week 13 NFL DFS: Under the Radar Plays

Buckle up for the last quarter of the NFL season. I’m here to bring you week 13 NFL DFS under the radar plays. I think week 13 is one of the most interesting of the season. One in which we could get a preview of this year’s Super Bowl as the San Francisco 49ers travel to the Baltimore Ravens. Additionally, fantasy studs are in smash spots. Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs host the Oakland Raiders and Christian McCaffrey and the Carolina Panthers host the Washington Redskins. Lock ’em in! Let’s dive deep and go under the radar for week 13 NFL DFS.

Players and pricing are from the DraftKings, Sunday, main slate.

Week 13 NFL DFS: Under the Radar Plays

Quarterback: Nick Foles $5,700

DFS players will, most likely, build around Mahomes. He could easily go for 40 fantasy points against the Raiders. However, there is a real argument to be made about spending down at quarterback and building a balanced roster in week 13. With that being said, Foles is my under the radar play this week. Foles’ has a few things pointing in his favor indicating a big game. First of all, he’s attempted 47 and 48 passes in the previous two games since his return from injury. Second, he faces the pass funnel defense of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Finally, which shouldn’t be overlooked, is the implied total of 49 points with the Jacksonville Jaguars a one-point favorite. These are two evenly matched teams, which indicate that both offenses will be slinging the ball.

Week 12 Under the Radar Play: Sam Darnold, 31.20 fantasy points. Result: BOOM!

Running Back: Phillip Lindsay $5,000

Now that we’ve jammed McCaffrey into our line-ups we have to look for value. The initial pay down will most likely be Miles Sanders, for $5,400, at the Miami Dolphins. However, Lindsay should not go overlooked. The Los Angeles Chargers travel to meet the Denver Broncos and have been on a downward spiral. Las Vegas has them as a two and half point road favorite. I’m not buying it! While the implied total is low, 38.5 points, the Chargers run defense is tenth worst. Additionally, the weather in Colorado will be a challenge, lending itself to a heavy dosage of running and short dump-off passes. This sets up ideally for a Lindsay ceiling game.

Week 12 Under the Radar Play: Patrick Laird, 2.0 fantasy points. Result: PUKE!

Wide Receiver: Davante Adams $7,000

As previously mentioned, the initial inclination will be to jam Mahomes with McCaffrey into line-ups. However, there are several lower-priced running backs in outstanding spots and paying up at the wide receiver position is a contrarian way to get leverage on the field. One can look to Adams. The Green Bay Packers are coming off a stinker in San Francisco. They now travel to New York to face the Giants‘ second-worst pass defense in the league. And, DFSers will go right back to the Chris Godwin/Mike Evans well. This where we pivot to Adams. Aaron Rodgers continues to lock in on Adams to the tune of double-digit targets in the past four games that he’s been healthy, with every indication he is fully recovered. Additionally, a mad Rodgers usually leads to huge bounce back and I’m looking to Adams as the beneficiary.

Week 12 Under the Radar Play: Allen Hurns, 14.20 fantasy points. Result: Solid.

Tight End: Kaden Smith $2,900

The chalk play, at tight end, will be Jack Doyle of the Indianapolis Colts. He’s reasonably priced at $3,300 and Eric Ebron has been placed on the injured reserve. However, Smith applied himself admirably, catching five of seven targets against the Chicago Bears in a difficult match-up. Although for a paltry 17 yards, he was able to haul in a touchdown. This week the Giants host the Packers, who are the third-worst team at defending the tight end position.  The implied total is a solid 46 points with the Packers being a six and a half point road favorite. Smith is a nice run back from Davante Adams in a game that we can expect Daniel Jones to have to rely on short passes to advance the ball.

Week 12 Under the Rada Play: Jonnu Smith, 0.4 fantasy points. Result: PUKE!

Defense: Baltimore Ravens $2,800

There are a few reasonably priced defenses this week. The Broncos are priced at $3,000. And I’m not buying the Chargers as a road favorite. Also, the Cleveland Browns, $2,600, go on the road to face the Pittsburgh Steelers, and their third-string quarterback, Devlin Hodges. That’s a game that could get ugly early given the bad blood between both teams.

With that being said, I like the Ravens at home. With a stout implied total of 46 points, The Ravens are a four-point home favorite. Do not overlook the fact that the 49ers are traveling from the West coast to play an early game. Traditionally, teams that have to travel from West to East for the early slate do not fair well. I like this game to go under the total in a battle of two of the league’s best defenses.

Week 12 Under the Radar Play: Cincinnati Bengals, 6.0 fantasy points. Result: Solid!

Under the Radar

Building a balanced line-up will be an under the radar play in week 13 NFL DFS. However, it will not go without risks by fading Mahomes and McCaffrey. If you can build a line-up wit high, upside running backs in great spots then you will be able to afford the stud wide receivers in equally great match-ups. Take a stand and don’t be afraid to pivot from the chalk.

Good luck and good DFS!
