76ers offseason

76ers Offseason Recap, Week One Of Free Agency – Could We See Another Star Coming To Philadelphia?

There is no doubt that this offseason has been one of the best for the Philadelphia 76ers. The first two days were a bit slow, and fans started to get worried until the 76ers made a massive blockbuster trade that immediately changed the narrative. They also signed a few free agents and lost a few free agents, such as Kelly Oubre Jr signing with the Indiana Pacers, and Quentin Grimes signing with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Again, 76ers fans were concerned with the team’s level of activity the first two days of free agency, but immediately after that, the team made one of the biggest splashes in the offseason. The 76ers have proved to fans that you can not overreact just two days in as they made a blockbuster trade. The craziest part is the 76ers might not have even made their biggest move of the offseason yet. With that being said, we now take a look at who is coming to Philadelphia.

The 76ers Offseason Moves

What the 76ers Have Signed So Far in Free Agency

The first move the 76ers made in free agency was to sign forward Dean Wade. While Wade’s stats do not pop off the charts, he is 6’9” tall and gives the 76ers a big power forward to help defensively. Wade also helps because he can space the floor and does not need the ball in his hand to contribute. Wade is likely going to compete with Dominic Barlow for the starting role at the power forward position.

The next signing was Ariel Hukporti, a seven-foot-tall center from the New York Knicks. Hukporti did not see much playing time in New York and may be in the same situation in Philadelphia. His best case to see backup center minutes is his size, and if the change of scenery can help him develop, as he is only 24 years old.

The last signing the 76ers made this offseason so far is Anfernee Simons. There is no possibility for him to start as the 76ers already have Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe, but he will come off the bench. Simons, as a bench player, absolutely helps the 76ers because, outside of the starting five, they had no depth, and Simons provides that as he averaged around 14 points per game.

76ers Trade George and Draft Picks For Celtics Star Brown

Now comes the big news: The 76ers have traded Paul George, a 2028 first-round pick, a 2031 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick, and a 2030 second-round pick to the Boston Celtics for star guard-forward Jaylen Brown. Brown is a five-time all-star and averaged 28.7 points per game last season. Brown now joins a squad that features Maxey, Edgecombe, Wade, and Joel Embiid

Could Lebron join the 76ers?

Despite this tremendous offseason from general manager Mike Gansey and the 76ers, they still have a chance to make their biggest move yet, as LeBron James has a very high chance of signing with the 76ers following the Brown trade.

The reason the 76ers can afford that is that James said he is not pursuing money, but happiness at this stage of his career, and will likely sign a veteran’s minimum deal with any team of his choosing. The starting five would look like Maxey, Edgecombe, Brown, James, Embiid, and the 76ers’ odds to win the title would skyrocket. If  Gansey can get James, this would be by far the 76ers’ biggest offseason in a decade and this could finally be the year for the 76ers.

Do you think the 76ers will sign James?
