After having the best offseason in the entire league, the Philadelphia 76ers are now being recognized as their season opener at the New York Knicks is the most expensive NBA opener in history. It is also that time where the schedule gets leaked for the upcoming season and the 76ers have improved so much this offseason that they have been granted multiple national televised games.
To think their 2024-2025 season was so bad they got very little national television attention, they have done a terrific job this past season and then completely changed the narrative this offseason The 76ers were going to have more television attention this season regardless of the additions they made this offseason, but the moves made them get a boatload of national televised games.
Before getting into it, the 76ers starting lineup features Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, Jaylen Brown, Lebron James and Joel Embiid and that should prove the Sixers are going to be loaded with nationally televised games. On paper they look good, but they will need to show they can play up to their potential with their schedule as it starts off very tough. With that being said, Let’s look at the home opener tickets and dive into the schedule that has been revealed so far.Â
76ers vs. Knicks Tip Off Season
The Season OpenerÂ
The 76ers will open the season on October 20th against the Knicks at Madison Square Garden, New York. The cost to attend is around $2,000, making it he most expensive NBA opener in history. This is largely due to the offseason the 76ers had with trading for Brown and signing James. It also factors in that the Knicks are the defending the champions and this could be a preview of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals come April. The two teams will come together again on October 30th in Philadelphia to meet up. There is a real possibility the two teams could face in the playoffs and make a deep run.
76ers Schedule Partially Revealed
As mentioned before, the 76ers will open the season by traveling to New York to face the Knicks. They will then come home for the home opener against James’s former team, the Cleveland Cavaliers on October 22nd. Shortly after, they will play the Knicks again on October 30th, but this time on the Sixers home court.
November 6th they will travel to take on the Cavaliers, and host Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Miami Heat on November 25th. They will follow by visiting the Indiana Pacers on Friday November 27th who now have former Sixer Kelly Oubre Jr.
Then there’s the game the 76ers were waiting for, they indeed will play on Christmas Day against James’s other former team the Los Angeles Lakers, and that game will be played in Los Angeles.
Then, it was revealed they will travel to take on the Atlanta Hawks on Martin Luther King Jr. Day (January 18th). The final game that has been revealed thus far is they will travel to take on the Dallas Mavericks on President’s Day (February 15th). That concludes the schedule reveal so far for the Sixers, and the rest will be revealed in the upcoming days.
