Manchester United 1-2 Manchester City, September 2016
It was arch rivals Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola’s first meeting in England and it did not disappoint. The first Manchester Derby of the season was a fiery affair with both teams looking to maintain their perfect starts to the season. City raced to a two goal lead in the first half before Zlatan Ibrahimovic halved the deficit just before half-time. United were all over City in the second half and were denied a penalty when Wayne Rooney was fouled inside the box by Claudio Bravo. But City held on to secure a memorable win in one of the most entertaining Manchester derbies in recent time.

Tottenham 2-0 Manchester City, October 2016
Almost a month later, City went to Tottenham with their 100% record in the league still intact. The match was a breathtaking affair with both sides playing some great football. But Pep Guardiola’s men were thoroughly outplayed by Spurs on the night. An own goal followed by a Dele Alli strike secured victory for Tottenham. Mauricio Pochettino’s energetic side showed their quality in a convincing win over title favorites Manchester City. The result had massive consequences for both teams. Spurs ultimately just fell short of winning the title and City just scraped into the top 4.

Manchester City 1-3 Chelsea, December 2016
A pulsating clash ensued when Manchester City and Chelsea met in December at the Etihad stadium. Chelsea were on a high, having won their last 7 games. And they tore Manchester City’s defence apart with their counter attacking style of play. Despite going behind on the stroke of half-time, Chelsea took advantage of City’s poor defending to cement their position at the top of the Premier League table. Diego Costa, Willian and Eden Hazard scored for the ruthless Blues to secure a massive win. To make matters worse for City, Sergio Aguero and Fernandinho were sent off as frustrations boiled over and players from both teams clashed towards the end of the game.

Bournemouth 4-3 Liverpool, December 2016
One of the most enthralling games of the season was when Bournemouth met an in-form Liverpool side in December. It looked like the Reds were set for a comfortable win when they were leading 3-1 with only 15 minutes to go. However the game was turned on its head by substitute Ryan Fraser. The young winger scored one and assisted the other before Chelsea loanee Nathan Ake scored the winner. It was a stunning end to a truly breathtaking affair. And it will long be remembered as one of the greatest wins in Bournemouth’s history.

Bournemouth 3-3 Arsenal, January 2017
Another stunning performance by the pacy Ryan Fraser helped Bournemouth to a 3-0 lead over Arsenal at the Vitality Stadium in January. But a superb second-half comeback from Arsenal followed and an Olivier Giroud header rescued a point for the Gunners in injury time. It wasn’t a game of the highest quality. Both teams were culpable defensively but the game was played with great energy and tempo and it led to a highly entertaining and dramatic encounter.
