2025 Aaron Rodgers Sweepstakes: Final Stop…?

The NFL offseason is in a frenzy, to say the least: from players leaving the teams that drafted them to others finding yet another home after rocking new colors last year. Yet one name seems to garner more attention than most despite the apparent radio silence: Aaron Rodgers.

Rodgers is coming off a putrid tenure with the New York Jets, which mercifully ended after the conclusion of the 2024 regular season. Tearing his Achilles tendon in his very first drive in East Rutherford, and overall disappointing production leave little reason to call Rodgers’ run as a Jet a good one. With many a fan and critic anticipating Rodgers’ next move, some NFL teams are better equipped to lure the 41-year-old signal caller. That being said, it IS still a risk-taking chance on any NFL players on the “wrong” side of 40.

Here are a few attractive locations for Aaron Rodgers in the presumably “last stretch” of his career.

Landing Spots For Aaron Rodgers

Minnesota Vikings

One of many jokes around is that Rodgers is following in the footsteps of his predecessor, Brett Favre. After 10-plus years as a Green Bay Packer, there was a brief, but disastrous, stint with the Jets, followed by a resurgence with the Minnesota Vikings. But this may not be as farfetched as one would think, especially in 2025. The Vikings almost took the NFC North crown from the equally imposing Detroit Lions. Not to mention Sam Darnold played the best season of his career under center. With Darnold now moving west to Seattle, the quarterback room in Minneapolis is a lot more open.

The thought of Rodgers throwing to Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, and T.J. Hockenson could spell trouble for Minnesota’s rivals. But when they play their two mandatory games against Green Bay with Rodgers in tow, expect hostility to be at an all-time high.

Las Vegas Raiders

Raiders Nation is seemingly looking to start a new chapter with the hiring of ex-Seahawks head coach, Pete Carroll. Carroll, who brought Seattle its first and only Lombardi Trophy, may bring much-needed experience and life into Las Vegas football after finishing their 2024 outing at 4-13. Adding Rodgers into the mix could set a spark on offense, with the help of Jacobi Meyers, Tre Turner, and Brock Bowers. Although the Raiders brought Geno Smith into the quarterback room, the rest of the options for field general are nothing to write about.

It would be best to have both Smith and Rodgers in the same room, in a similar fashion as to what Pittsburgh did bringing in both Justin Fields and Russell Wilson. Neither should be seen as THE long-term solution. But the Raiders need to get the ball rolling immediately.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Speaking of the Steelers, it seems that the quarterback room in the Steel City is undergoing ANOTHER renovation. Justin Fields is now taking over Rodgers’ spot on the Jets, and Russell Wilson is testing the waters of free agency. Since then, Pittsburgh has re-signed Mason Rudolph and recruited ex-Dolphins quarterback, Skylar Thompson. If Rodgers was smart, he would look to the Steel City as possibly the best chance to see playoff action. Not only is the starting quarterback job up for grabs, but he will have once again an elite defense to help get the black and yellow out of any binds.

First things first, Wilson has to decide which team he will call home for the upcoming campaign. Once he finalizes his plans, the Steelers could get to work on acquiring Rodgers’ services. And if Rodgers DOES arrive to Pittsburgh, he will have to outperform Rudolph, who is well-versed in the Steelers’ way of winning games.
