Award season is over and free agency should be heating up at any time now. There is a plethora of big names on the market this season, and today we will take a look at the top five free agent infielders available for hire. Let us know in the comments if we missed anyone!
Top 5 Free Agent Infielders
5. Jose Abreu
Jose Abreu has been one of the more consistent hitters in baseball for the better part of a decade. Throughout his nine seasons in the Majors, he holds a career line of .292/.354/.506 with 243 home runs and a 134 OPS+. He will be entering his age-36 season in 2023, but he is still a solid option that would upgrade most teams offensively at first base which makes him one of the top free agent infielders still available.
4. Carlos Correa
Carlos Correa did the unthinkable last off-season when he signed a three-year deal with the Minnesota Twins, and then did the extremely obvious this off-season when he exercised his opt-out clause to hit free agency for the second time in his young career. Correa was also an entry in our top-available free agents list last season as he is a solid addition to any lineup when healthy, Correa boasts a .279/.357/.479 career line with 155 home runs and a 129 OPS+. Health is always a factor for this entry in the top available free agent infielders list, however, as he has played 140+ games in a single season only twice.
3. Dansby Swanson
Dansby Swanson has been a late bloomer to this point in his career. Through his first five seasons in the Majors, he held a career line of .249/.321/.396 with 50 home runs and an 87 OPS+. He’s turned that around over the past two seasons, however, as he hit .263/.321/.448 with 52 home runs and a 107 OPS+. What lands Dansby ahead of Correa on this list is his durability. Over the past two seasons, Dansby has played in 322 out of 324 games (not including the postseason) compared to Correa’s 284 games played in that time.
2. Xander Bogaerts
Xander Bogaerts is another under-the-radar consistency machine in the likes of Jose Abreu. Having spent 10 years with the Boston Red Sox, Bogaerts is now entering free agency for the first time in his career as one of the top available free agent infielders. During his time spent in Boston, he held a career line of .292/.356/.458 with 156 home runs and a 117 OPS+ while improving his defense over the past couple of years to make himself an above-average defender at a premium position.
1. Trea Turner
Trea Turner is the fourth Dodgers player ever with a home run in each of his first two games to begin a postseason, joining Corey Seager (2016), Manny Ramírez (2008) and Davey Lopes (1978). pic.twitter.com/7acmQwXuBw

It’s no secret that Trea Turner is one of the most sought-after free agents available this off-season. Turner is one of the fastest players in the game today and he also adds average pop and a knack for getting base hits to make him one of the more dangerous lead-off hitters in baseball. Across his eight-year career, he holds a line of .302/.355/.487 with 124 home runs, 230 stolen bases, and a 122 OPS+. A career line like that will easily land you atop a list of the top available free agent infielders in any off-season!
