Davante Adams' top five games

Davante Adams’ Top Five Games In 2020

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams has been one of the best in the game for a while now and 2020 might’ve catapulted him to the top. With MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers targeting Adams, this Packers offense became number one in all of football. The second-most targeted receiver in the NFL was fifth in receiving yards (1,374) and first in receiving touchdowns (18). Adams also has the third-highest catch rate in all of football.

If it wasn’t for his two missed games, these numbers would be even more off the charts. Davante Adams’ top five games from this season are some of the best we’ve seen in recent memory as he set records and climbed to the top. It’s going to be hard to pick just five but that’s what I’ll try to do here. (Chronological Order)

Davante Adams’ Top Five Games In 2020

Week 1 at Vikings (14 catches, 156 yards, 2 Touchdowns)

A big 43-34 victory in Week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings was just the beginning of what was a dominant season for Adams. Coming into season number two under head coach Matt LaFleur‘s system, everyone was excited to see how much improvement was made from last year and it manufactured the MVP and best wide receiver in 2020. This rivalry game is always been one of the most-watched games of the week and Adams displayed his dominance for all to see.

Out of Rodgers 364 yards and four touchdowns, Adams caught 156 of the yards and two of the touchdowns. They both saw weakness in the Viking’s secondary and with Adams’ great technique, the Packers exploited it. This was just one of many outstanding games from the great Packers wide receiver.

Week 7 at Texans (13 catches, 196 yards, 2 Touchdowns)

Out of Davante Adams’ top five games this season, Week 7 against the Houston Texans might be the best of them all. After an embarrassing loss a week before to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Packers were set out to rebound in a huge way. Adams had 61 yards in Tampa, which is good for most receivers, but not close to what he can do.

He took the opportunity to have a huge bounce back and keep his great season rolling as he caught an impressive 196 yards for two touchdowns. The Texans secondary had no answers for Adams’ quick footwork and route-running ability. This performance improved the Packers’ record to 5-1 but Adams continued to outshine the opponent throughout the season.

Week 9 at 49ers (10 catches, 173 yards, 1 Touchdown)

Just like in Week 7 against the Texans, the Packers came into this week nine game against the San Fransisco 49ers with a loss the week prior. Adams caught three touchdowns against the Vikings in Week 8 but that meant nothing to him in a loss. He set out to come back and give them a winning performance and did he ever. Adams caught ten passes for an impressive 173 yards and a touchdown. This improved their record to 6-2 as there was no question that Rodgers and Adams were locked into their game.

Week 13 vs Eagles (10 catches, 121 yards, 2 Touchdowns)

The Packers looked to keep the momentum going as they dominated division rival Chicago Bears 41-25 in Week 12. Adams had 61 yards and a touchdown going against one of the toughest defenses in the league. Rodgers and Adams made them look like a bottom of the league defense.

This game against the Philadelphia Eagles was two times better in a 30-16 win. Adams was by far the leading receiver in this game as he had 121 yards to go along with two touchdowns. He’s been torching defenses left and right as to this point was his fifth game with over 100 yards receiving. He did it again the following week against another NFC North foe at Detroit.

Week 16 vs Titans (11 catches, 142 yards, 3 Touchdowns)

We round out the list of Davante Adams’ top five games with another masterpiece of a performance as it comes at the expense of the Tennessee Titans, who were in a dog fight for the AFC South. This game was played in the snow up at the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field. It was just another day at the office for Adams as he caught 11 passes for 142 yards and three touchdowns. This was a huge game for the Packers as they tried to prove they could contend and beat a playoff-bound Tennessee team. A late-season game like this caught everyone’s eye as it not only solidified Rodgers as MVP, but Adams as dominant and unstoppable come playoff time.
