Players To Watch In The NFL Conference Championship Games

This weekend plays host to the NFL conference championships. The AFC championship goes through Kansas City where the Chiefs take on the Tennessee Titans. For the NFC title, the Green Bay Packers travel to San Francisco to take on the 49ers. Before the games kick-off, let’s take a look at three key players to watch.

Players To Watch In The NFL Conference Championship Games

Nick Bosa

He has had an impressive rookie season, to say the least. Bosa has no problem coming off the edge which will pose a huge problem this weekend. Pay close attention to how Green Bay handles him. That is if they can handle him. During their first meeting back in week 12, Bosa, along with the rest of the 49ers defense, held them to just eight points. Bosa got one of his nine sacks against Aaron Rodgers. Maybe lightning strikes twice for him.

He still has a ton to prove this season. What can he do against the Packers on Sunday? He is going to have to tap into next level Nick Bosa if he wants to prove he will be valuable next year and beyond.

Davante Adams

Adams didn’t do much earlier in the season as far as touchdowns are concerned but he did catch for a considerable amount of yards. He missed games five through eight because of a turf toe injury he sustained during their loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. He scored the only touchdown against the 49ers during their first meeting and has scored four touchdowns in the last five games of the season.

His job this weekend will be to try to find interesting ways to get open for his quarterback.  Adams is proving to be an essential part of the Packers offense and this game will help make a case for how effective a receiver he’ll be going forward. Can he be the next Donald Driver? Maybe not, but his presence is much needed if the Packers want to pull the game out against the 49ers.

Ryan Tannehill

Obviously everyone will be watching to see what Tannehill does this weekend. He has been the dark horse in the playoffs so far. After leaving the Miami Dolphins, it seemed like Tannehill would fall into the role of backup. Only this time, thanks to Marcus Mariota‘s lackluster performance, he would be granted the opportunity to start. After coming in week seven, he seemingly never looked back.

What Tannehill needs to do in his NFL conference championship is continue to feed the ball to Derrick Henry. It seems like Henry is an effective part of the Tennessee Titans’ offense. He also threw three touchdowns to one interception in his two playoff games so far. Tannehill couldn’t quite get it done with the Miami Dolphins but hopefully, this opportunity with the Titans brings new opportunities for him. It starts with this pivotal game against the Kansas City Chiefs that have a mediocre defense. Can the Titans keep pace with such a dynamic offensive team?

NFL Conference Championship

After Sunday, there will be a new AFC and NFC champion for the 2019-20 season. Adams, Bosa, and Tannehill will play a major role on their teams. Can they make enough of an impact to take their team to Super Bowl 54?
