2019 College Football Playoff Prediction

It’s that time of year again. The time where all college football fans go crazy about the college football playoff rankings. Which teams should be in and what is the proper seeding. Of course, the debates about the committee being SEC biased never get old. This year feels different. With the Alabama Crimson Tide being out of the picture, the playoff is more open. Here is my final college football playoff prediction.

2019 College Football Playoff Prediction

#1 LSU Tigers

LSU has had the most impressive wins out of all of the teams in the playoff. While their strength of schedule is 29th out of 130, the Tigers defeated then number three ranked Alabama. LSU is expected to beat the fourth-ranked Georgia Bulldogs for the SEC championship. That would be two victories over playoff teams during the regular season while staying undefeated. No other team in college has that on their resumé. The Tigers should enter the playoff ranked number one overall.

#2 The Ohio State Buckeyes

The Buckeyes have been dominant against their opponents all season. Their average margin of victory is 38 points and scoring 50 points per game. Ohio State is facing the Wisconsin Badgers for the Big Ten championship. Earlier this season, the Buckeyes embarrassed the Badgers by 31 points and there is no reason to believe the result would be any different Saturday. Ohio State isn’t number one because the Big Ten is fraudulent. Wisconsin lost to the Fighting Illini and Minnesota lost to Iowa and Wisconsin. The Buckeyes’ only good win is against Penn State.

#3 Clemson Tigers

The Tigers started out this season relatively underwhelming due to Trevor Lawrence not living up to expectations. Travis Etienne is carrying this Tiger team on his shoulder pads. Clemson’s strength of schedule is ranked 80 out of 130 this season. Their notable victory was against Texas A&M in week two. The Tigers struggled against North Carolina which further called into question this year’s team’s ability. Nevertheless, they are one of only three undefeated teams this season and that has to matter.

#4 Baylor Bears

Yes, this is a reach but hear me out. The Bears’ only loss was to Oklahoma Sooners, who they’ll face for the Big 12 championship. Obviously, I believe Baylor will win this game which will propel them ahead of Oklahoma. What makes them jump two additional spots to make the playoff is quite simple.

Georgia will lose to LSU, which will cause Georgia to slide from four. Even if Utah Utes win their conference championship, it will be against a 13th-ranked, two-loss Oregon Ducks team. The Utes’ only loss was also worse than the Bears’ sole loss. These reasons give Baylor the advantage. Basically, if Baylor wins, their resumé would be more impressive than Utah’s and validate the jump. I hope I didn’t lose you.

Final Prediction

The LSU Tigers will face off against the Ohio State University Buckeyes for the national championship. Coach Ed Orgeron will hoist the championship trophy with LSU. The Tigers have proven their ability whereas the Buckeyes have cruised by this season. Joe Burrow will put his stamp on the game as he prepares to be taken in the top 5 in the NFL draft.
