Giancarlo Stanton took over the 2017 National League MVP race with his home run onslaught. Stanton has been traded to the Yankees, in the American League, hence opening up the 2018 MVP race. Here are some of the favorites for the 2018 National League MVP.
2018 National League MVP Favorites
5 Christian Yelich
Yelich has consistently put up relatively good numbers on a bad Marlins team. He was always underrated behind Giancarlo Stanton. Now it’s time for Yelich to breakout and show the baseball world his talents. If not this year, Yelich will take home a National League MVP some day soon. Yelich is the dark horse candidate for the 2018 National League MVP.
4 Justin Turner
Turner has broken out since returning home to LA. He has turned himself from a non-tender with the Mets to an absolute star in Hollywood. Turner has put up MVP like numbers the past couple of years. It’s time for him to complete his ride to stardom and take home a National League MVP.
3 Nolan Arenado
Nolan Arenado does just about everything well. He is an elite defender at the hot corner, and hits for both power and average. Arenado also produces both at Coors Field and on the road. Arenado will be your 2018 National League MVP.
2 Paul Goldschmidt
Goldschmidt has been one of the most consistent performers the past couple of years. He hits for both average and power at the hitter friendly Chase Field. Goldy is a pure gap to gap hitter.
1 Joey Votto
Votto finished second to Giancarlo Stanton in the 2017 NL MVP voting. With Stanton being traded to the AL, the award seems like Votto’s to lose. Joey Votto has continued to produce as he has gotten older. You should expect more of the same from Joey Votto in 2018.
