What the 2025 NL All-Star Team Should Look Like

As the season progresses, many players have performed better than others. Some have shined while others have faded a bit into the abyss. The one thing that will be interesting is the 2025 All-Star Game selection. Even though the roster is almost always a bit unpredictable, here’s what it should look like.

Potential 2025 NL All-Star Team

Catcher: Will Smith, Runner-Up: Carson Kelly

One thing that needs to be recognized about Will Smith is that he is an elite. Smith is a bit of an unsung hero for the Dodgers, thanks to his elite defense and some solid offensive play as well. Smith has been great for LA this season with a .320 average and six home runs. Not much power, but the average and defense can make up for Smith’s lack of control. Carson Kelly can also be considered a worthy candidate, although his productivity has declined significantly lately.

Left Field: James Wood, Runner-Up: Seiya Suzuki

James Wood has been an absolute beast this season with 16 home runs and 45 RBIs. Wood also has a significant on-base percentage (OBP) of .367, considering he has walked as much as he has. With such significant numbers, Wood is easily the starting Left Fielder for the NL so far. Seiya Suzuki has been a great two, but just not as good as Wood.

Center Field: Pete Crow-Armstrong, Runner-Up: Andy Pages

Pete Crow-Armstrong has been insane for the Chicago Cubs this season with 17 homers, a .271 average, and 55 RBIs. The discussion pretty much ends right there since no other center-fielder is even close to those numbers. Andy Pages has been good, but not nearly good enough.

Right Field: Corbin Carroll, Runner-Up: Kyle Tucker

There are quite a few good right-fielders in the NL. However, Corbin Carroll leads the pack with 19 home runs and a good average. His OBP isn’t very good since he doesn’t walk much, but he strikes out a ton. However, the power and average are enough for Carroll to beat out Kyle Tucker. Although Tucker can still easily get the position.

First Base: Pete Alonso, Runner-Up: Freddie Freeman

Pete Alonso has been a beast this season so far with a sparkling average of .300 with 17 home runs and somehow 62 RBIs. Sure, Alonso may not have a .349 average like Freddie Freeman. However, Alonso is on pace for a 41-homer, 150-RBI season, making it easy to see why he should be the starting 1st baseman. Freeman has been great as well but lacks both the RBIs and homers that Alonso has. Don’t be surprised if Freeman is the starter though, as he definitely deserves some respect two.

Second Base: Brendan Donovan, Runner-Up: Nico Hoerner

This is a position that is among the most boring in baseball. Only Brendan Donovan has performed well with a .310 average and just four home runs. Even with those minuscule numbers, the runner-up, Nico Hoerner, has as many home runs as me, none. Overall, Donovan will likely take this position easily.

Shortstop: Francisco Lindor, Runner-Up: Elly Del La Cruz

What? Stupidly enough, Francisco Lindor hasn’t made an All-Star since 2019. Not because he’s bad, especially since Lindor finished second in MVP voting last season. Anyway, Lindor has achieved great numbers this season with a nice .282 average and 14 home runs. Lindor is on pace for a great season, and if he isn’t selected, it will be a crime. Elly Del La Cruz is good, but not as good as Lindor, so stop pretending that he is.

Third Base: Manny Machado, Runner-Up: Eugenio Suarez

Manny Machado is a runaway favorite here. Machado’s numbers have been amazing, as he is batting .325 with 10 home runs. As for Eugenio Suarez, Suarez has done great power-wise, but his low .224 average isn’t enough to beat out Machado.

DH: Shohei Ohtani, Runner-Up: Marcell Ozuna

Again, Shohei Ohtani is a runaway favorite here with 23 home runs and a nice average. As Marcell Ozuna sits with just 10 home runs and a much worse average, it is easy to see why there is not much to discuss here.

This season has been pretty exciting so far. One of the main reasons is the exceptional performances of these stars. Some players are guaranteed to start in the All-Star game, while others have some work to do. All in all, it’ll be fun to see who comes out on top.
