US Open 2019 – Looking at the Field

The year is moving by quickly, and now it is time for the third major in the PGA calendar, the US Open. All eyes in the golfing world will be watching to see who can rise to the top in this wonderful combination of course and talent. Let’s take a look at what we should look at.

US Open 2019 – A Look Ahead

The US Open Course

Pebble Beach, CA is a course that has hosted the US Open before and one that offers much beauty as well as difficulty. One of the most recognizable with its cliff side views and ocean backdrop. It can inspire poetry as well as play. This US Open shall be no different. A course that the public has access to on a regular basis, amateur and casual golfers know the highs and lows of this course and where to watch for traps and tricks.

Speaking of beauty, the weather for the US Open will be near perfect. Mid-sixties are expected as well as no rainfall for the entire weekend. Between the weather and the course, this weekend should be a great combination.

Who to Watch for the Win

Rory McIlroy won the Canadian Open last week with an impressive seven-stroke lead. Surely he has momentum coming into the US Open. However, not only big names have performed well this year. There have been several winners who have gotten their first win. Including Corey Conners who not only won his first tournament at the Valero Texas Open but also won it as a late Monday qualifier, having the biggest week of his career thus far. With surprises and talent like that around the golf world, there is never a guarantee of who will win this weekend.

Tiger on the Prowl

At The Masters this past April, Tiger Woods made his amazing comeback completed by winning his 81st tournament. Then at the PGA Championship, he didn’t make the cut into the weekend. Of course, it is easy for a Monday morning quarterback to say why he didn’t. He was too rusty in between majors. He was too confident from the win. His confidence was uncertain on whether he could match his Masters play. No matter what, the bottom line is, Tiger is back as a real threat, but you may not know until tee time which Tiger will be on the course.

Last Word

If you are in the California area, and close enough to Pebble Beach area, and are so inclined. It would be a great way to spend all or part of your weekend by going to the US Open. Not only the tournament itself but there so many other things to watch. The players also go out of their way at times to keep touch with the fans and let them feel involved. Golf over the years has become more and more of a fan favorite. Not the distant, watch from afar game it had been in its earlier years. This is in no small way due to the players, especially the youngest generation of them. They are making sure the kids of today learn the game and become fans, which will, in turn, make some want to play and keep more and more new players coming into the fold. This weekend should be a great showing of luck and skill. Who will lift the cup in the air? We will see on Sunday. Fore!
