There are two players on the Los Angeles Clippers roster that have a chance to be considered nominees for the 2018/2019 NBA Sixth Man of The Year Award.
On offence, Lou Williams understands spacing and when to shoot and pass the ball in critical moments. Additionally, Montrezl Harrell is physical around the rim and has a decent jump shot to help with spacing the ball. They both can shoot from the charity stripe.
Williams has won this accolade twice before. For Harrell, it would be his first time as a candidate. He has been consistent posting double-doubles assisting in helping lead LA to victories. Both players provide the consistent spark needed for their team off the bench. Furthermore, they are both well versed defensively. They understand the fundamentals on both sides of the ball.
Williams and Harrell are the two players who have the best chance at being considered nominees for the 2018 NBA Sixth Man of The Year Award.
Lou Williams
Williams has won the award twice before — once with the Clippers and once with the Toronto Raptors. He is what you call a journeyman in the NBA. Despite all that travelling, his game is consistent. Williams game is always improving as well, just like all players in the NBA. The more you play the more you improve your game.
This season, Williams is averaging 17.6 points per game, 4.9 assists per game, and 2.4 rebounds per game. He has added two double-doubles on the season. Williams is capable of seeing plays before they happen and makes the plays with his court vision. More so he is scrappy on defence, and enjoys stealing the ball and locking down his opponent, not allowing them to score, let alone even get a shot off.
Montrezl Harrell
Harrell is the second potential nominee for the Los Angeles Clippers. He has been consistent for the Los Angeles Clippers as well, averaging 15.5 points per game, 6.7 rebounds per game, and 1.6 blocks per game.
Harrell has posted eight double-doubles this year and was two rebounds shy from ten double-doubles this season. When on the floor, Montrezl is the player who makes the hustle plays, the extra plays, and has the mindset/attitude of winning.
This mindset is showing when he comes off the bench and helps guide the team to a run, whether it is to help them come from behind, take a lead, or put the game away. Once again he is the one who assists in igniting the team and the crowd when they need it. Also, he makes plays defensively in critical moments.
Los Angles Clippers Proving They Are Contenders
In conclusion, both players have a high player efficiency rating above twenty. When both are on the floor, the Los Angeles Clippers are a more improved team. The Clippers have a higher chance at victory whether these two players are on the court one at a time or together. When both are on the court together they are a dangerous duo. The way they play helps make their team better because you have to guard both of them. Both know how to create space to get a shot off and can handle the ball. Additionally, they are physical and understand how to use their strength around the rim.
All this has helped them to defeat playoff-calibre teams such as the Nuggets, Warriors, Thunder, Grizzlies, TrailBlazers, and Bucks.
As long as the Los Angeles Clippers can stay healthy, then they will have a chance to make a run in the playoffs and possibly be a team to not want to mess with.
