Top Three Games to Watch in NFL Week 3

The 2018 NFL season has quickly progressed to Week 3. There are some tremendous storylines thus far. From the 2-0 Ryan Fitzpatrick led Buccaneers, to the new tandem in New England of Tom Brady and Josh Gordon. Week 3 figures to be another thriller, here are some of the top games to watch.

New Orleans Saints (1-1) vs Atlanta Falcons (1-1)

When these two divisional rivals meet up, you know you’re in for a shoot out, as both of these teams score a ton of points. The Falcons average 21 points/game, and the Saints average 30 points/game. The over/under for Sunday’s matchup is already set at 53.5 points. Matty Ice, Julio Jones, and Tevin Coleman vs Drew Brees, Alvin Kamara, and Michael Thomas. This is sure going to be a fun offensive battle to watch.

Ultimately, this game will come down to whichever defense is able to make the big stop. For the Saints, second year corner Marshon Lattimore is going to need to step up being time otherwise Julio is going to have a monster day. The Falcons linebackers will need to step up and contain Alvin Kamara both on the ground and through the air.

The Saints are already 0-1 at home against divisional opponents. I do not see them losing another home division matchup. Lattimore is hungry, and needs to show his rookie year success was not a fluke. The Saints defense will show up, and Alvin Kamara will torch the Falcons linebacker, carrying them to a Week 3 victory.

Las Angeles Chargers (1-1) vs Los Angeles Rams (2-0)

The battle for LA, the Rams vs the Chargers. We sure are in for a treat here, as two of the top teams in football are going head-to-head. Phillip Rivers always leads a high scoring offense, and 2018 is no different thanks to star running back Melvin Gordon. The Rams run a balanced offense, which can beat you with either QB Jared Goff or RB Todd Gurley.

Things won’t be so easy for Rivers in this one, as he will have to deal with a secondary of Marcus Peters and Aquib Talib and a front of Aaron Donald and Ndamukong Suh. Look for pass catching back Aaron Ekeler and veteran tight-end Antonio Gates to get involved and pick on the Rams weak linebackers. On the defensive side of the ball, the Chargers will need Casey Heyward to step up big time.

The Chargers high-scoring offense will keep up with the Rams. However, the Rams weapons around Goff will prove to be too much. Gurley is going to have a big day, and look for Cooper Kupp to get involved often out of the slot. This will certainly be a back and forth game, but the Rams will end up on top.

San Francisco 49ers (1-1) vs Kansas City Chiefs (2-0)

Wit Patrick Mahomes at the helm, the Chiefs have become new team. Their offense is fast paced, and high scoring. Just two games into the season, Mahomes has 582 yards and 10 touchdowns. Jimmy Garoppolo and the 49ers snuck out a Week 2 win over the Lions. They should get another target back in Week 3 with Marquise Goodwin returning to the lineup.

The Chiefs are heavy favorites here, but with this offense the way it is they are must-watch football. Mahomes, Kareem Hunt, Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, Sammy Watkins. This team is stacked from top to bottom on offense. They are an electric offense, and figure to put on a show week in and week out.
